❄ Chapter 27 ❄

Sandy was all alone on his sandy cloud, still rising up in the air. Black sand surrounding him like one big massive tornado as he kept whipping with his golden sand chains in order to keep the black sand away from him. It seemed that it was getting more difficult for him as the black sand made its way closer and closer to Sandy.

Pitch was looking from a safe distance facing Sandy as a wide grin spread on his colorless face.

The other five guardians who were sitting in the sleigh were watching in horror as they saw their friend fighting or his dear life.

Nixie was starting to panic as she said, "We have to do something!"  Jack who looked behind him into her direction nodded as he also added. "We gotta help Sandy!"

North nodded as he turned the sleigh into the direction of the golden male who was still whipping with his chains.

Nixie looked to her right to only see that Pitch was creating an arrow that was made out of black sand. It had a light blue tip as he aimed for the Sandman. Her green eyes widened as Pitch was again murdering someone of her family.

"SANDY WATCH OUT!"  Nixie felt tears filling her eyes as she saw the arrow crashing in between Sandy's shoulder blades as he looked with a look of betrayal on his face, still holding his golden sand chains.

His little body stiffened as the arrow entered his body.

"NOOO!" Jack's cry could be heard through the air as Nixie felt her anger risen to a certain point that she never has felt before in her entire life. The rumbles of thunderclouds could be heard as Nixie floated into the air. Her eyes weren't the same as they shone a bright green.

The platinum haired teenager floated into the direction of Sandy to the confusion of North, Bunny and Tooth as she normally couldn't fly.

"N?" Bunny asked but she didn't reply as if she wasn't 'there' anymore.

They were too busy with comprehending this whole situation as also Jack simultaneously flew off into the direction of Sandy.

Sandy turned around, a look of fear, hurt and betrayal evident in his eyes as Pitch laughed menacingly.

"Don't fight the fear, little man."  The dark sand made its way closer to Sandy as he was stuck in between it, still disbelieving that he was struck with an arrow in his back.

Tooth who was also trying to go for help, got stopped by a nightmare as North tried to dodge the other passing nightmares with his sleigh. Looks of fear on their faces as they saw their chances slim by the minute.

"Hurry! Hurry Nixie, Jack!" The Russian man yelled towards the two teenagers.

Pitch who was looking at a very weak Sandy continued with his lecture as an unemotional look on his face was evident, as if he didn't care.
Only the passion of creating fear could be felt a mile away.

"I'd say sweet dreams, but there aren't any left."  Sandy's eyes widened as Jack and Nixie made their way towards their dying friend.

They were almost there as Sandy fell down onto one knee, the black sand had almost overpowered him. At his last seconds, Sandy stood up straight. A proud look on his face as he looked Pitch straight in the eye as the black sand covered his whole body. At that moment, Sandy accepted the fate that he had lost one battle, but that didn't mean permanent victory for the Boogey Man.

One last golden light shone through the air as the existence of the Sandman was wiped off the earth. A look of disbelieve appeared on North's face as Bunny looked sad and hurt behind the shoulder of the colossal man. North's big furry eyebrows turned downwards as tears formed in his eyes.

"Sandy?" 

"No... NOOO!" Jack stopped into midair as his anger also raised a point that he hadn't experienced before. Nixie was floating right beside him, her eyes still shining bright green as she turned towards Jack. Her hand grabbed his as the light also started to form within Jack. His eyes shone bright white as an unbelievable power emitted his body.

The wind increased as the two teenagers made their way to the immense wall of nightmares that were forming one straight line in the darkness of the night.

The rumbling of thunderclouds was hearable as they also increased in power. A look of confusion could be seen on the face of Pitch as he never saw that energy radiating from someone else before.

The two teenagers got bombarded with nightmares as North gasped while sitting in his sleigh. The scene before him shocked him as he whispered, "Nix..." Maybe his housemate was forever gone, just like Sandy. That couldn't happen. It just couldn't.

Pitch was grinning as he thought that he already won this fight as his nightmares did his dirty work for him.

A moment later a green, mixed with whitish blue light emerged from the grouping nightmares. The energy exploded as Nixie and Jack were visible again to the relief of the other guardians. The nightmares that were not a couple of seconds prior, surrounding them, got fired into the air.

The lightning of the thunderstorm around them, found its way to Nixie's hand palm as Jack got a strong hold on his wooden staff. He clutches his staff in a forward motion as ice erupted out of it. Nixie who had her body full of energy from the lightning, stretched out her hand to add electrical effects. The lightning was led by the ice from Jack.

The electrical ice ripped over the nightmares as they all exploded into fireworks. A look of fear, just for a moment could be seen on Pitch's face as he saw the wave of energy coming towards him. He got knocked away from the energy as his scream could be heard.

Jack's vision was cloudy as he opened his eyes for a moment, his hand was linked with Nixie's as the green light deadened in her eyes. He moves his body to hers in a hug kind of form as he felt darkness again overtook his senses. Wrapping his arms around her body in order to protect her.

Jack and Nixie who were turning back to normal, passed out due to the energy that took from them for performing such power. They were falling through the sky as North yelled, "Jack! Nixie!"

Tooth who acted fast, flew up into the air, trying to get the couple as she placed them both into the sleigh. Jack was slowly waking up as Nixie was still beside him, his arm wrapped around her. The ice boy groaned as he got into a more comfortable position. Nixie was still passed out as Bunny looked at her with what looked like a look of concern written of his furry face.

Jack looked at the girl beside him to make sure she was fine and had no injuries.

"Jack, h-how did you guys do that?" Tooth was getting more curious as to what the state of the two teenagers was.

A look of confusion was evident on Jack's face as he looked Tooth straight in the eye.

"I, I, I- I didn't know we could do that."

Pitch who was on the ground, looked up at the sky to see the sleigh enter a portal that formed right before them. A chuckle escaped his lips as the whinnying of the nightmares around him filled the silence of the night.

"Finally! Some people who knows how to have a little fun!" He looked kind of impressed with the scene that happened a couple of seconds ago.
