Chapter Five

It was way too early to be awake, but here I am, wide awake thinking over and over again about what Adam could possibly think up for us to do. I felt myself start to drift off into space.

"Jess! Help me!" Adam screamed. We were at the skating rink. Adam insisted on coming even though he had beyond terrible balance. I watched as he was hunched over, arms stretched out trying to regain his balance. After watching him struggle for a while, I skated my way towards him, putting his arm around my shoulder. He put his weight on my shoulder lightly, not wanting to hurt me. I moved slowly around the edges of the rink so he could hold onto the walls while also using me for support. After a couple minutes Adam started to slowly become comfortable and let go of the wall.

"I'm doing it. I'm doing it." Adam said excitedly. I laughed and started to skate away from him. As soon as I did so I saw Adam flail around. He grabbed my hand tightly so he wouldn't fall. We soon began to pick up pace around the rink, going a little faster every lap.  Adam eventually let go of my hand and was moving on his own. His arms flailing around.

I was pushed back into reality as a loud commercial turned on. I smiled at the memory. I was hoping that Adam would choose the skating rink. I know he will. I thought. It seems that every memory or dream I have seems to happen. I looked over at the clock.

"It's 10 A.M. I must've been day dreaming for a long time." I said to myself. Suddenly I heard my doorbell ring.

"That's probably Adam." I said, making my way to the front door. I opened the door to see Adam.

"Come on in." I said opening the door all the way to make room for Adam to come inside. We walked into the living room and sat on my couch, turning to face each other.

"So what do you have planned for the day?" I asked him. He looked away and I saw him start to blush.

"I was wondering if we could go ice skating." He said still facing away from me.

"Are you sure? You know you don't have good balance." I said. He nodded.

"I'm aware about my balance. I just thought that it would be fun. You'll help me right? Make sure I don't fall?" He said looking back up at me. I smiled at him.

"Don't worry you big dork. I won't let you fall." I said before getting up to grab a jacket, knowing it was going to be cold at the skating rink. Adam gave me a confused look.

"It's the middle of summer Jessica. Why are you grabbing a jacket?" He said, confused.

"Well, It's going to be a little chilly in the place. So I recommend that we go back to your hotel and get you a jacket." I said walking back to the couch.

"I didn't bring one. It's a summer vacation. Summer!" He said dramatically.

"Well we can stop by walmart on the way to the skating rink." I said.

"Alrighty. Let's get going then." He said and we made our way out of the house and into the car. The car ride was comfortable like it always is. I kept singing along to my favorite songs that I heard coming from the car speakers. I was never afraid to sing in front of Adam. He makes me feel like I can be myself.

"You have such a nice singing voice." Adam said as we pulled into a parking space. I shook my head.

"Nope!" I said hoping out of the car.
