So, I have seen a ton of these in my recommendation feed. So, I did what comes naturally. State my opinion. I've read a few books like that, and I can honestly say that:
Decent
I mean, it's okay, not the best, but okay. It keeps on repeating itself in the books here. First, Serena falls in love with Ash, but Ash being the density king he is, doesn't notice. Then Serena smacks some sense into him and then they are dating until Calem does some plot twist to make Serena his.
So yeah. Decent.
Anime
