My eyes had been glued to the clock all day. We were learning about how planets were formed in science, which I was usually excited for but today was different.

In eight and a half hours I would be able to talk to my soulmate again. I had drawn small hearts on my arm all day so he would know I was thinking about him. He had yet to write anything back. I'm sure he's just busy with school though.

The science teacher, Mrs. Pratchett didn't seem to notice I wasn't paying attention. Most of my teachers don't care if I do other things in class. I'm nowhere close to being as smart as the valedictorian this year, but I have been on the high honor roll all of highschool.

People knew I was smart, so naturally they tried to use me for a better grade. Usually I'd partner with Aliyah or Olivia but neither of them were in my science class. Mrs. Pratchett knew how kids were so she let me do projects on my own.

There were two people that hadn't tried to use me for good grades. I'm sure you couldn't guess, but it was Dylan and his best friend. They had some sort of pact to make my life miserable whenever they could.

Back in middle school they tried to get me uninvited from all the parties, and now high school where they slap my books out of my hands and spread rumors. Nobody else really joined in, but nobody stopped them.

I assume if they were any more popular than other people would join in. They were about seven out of ten on the popularity scale. For reference I'm a solid two.

Isaac, his best friend wasn't always mean. When he first got here in fifth grade he was nice but when he met Dylan it stopped.

I've tried to think back to everything I did in middle school but I just don't remember doing anything to Dylan. When I find my soulmate, he'll protect me from douches like that. I just know it.

Thinking about my soulmate brought a smile to my face. Looking up, Mrs. Pratchett seemed to be done teaching. Without feeling bad about missing anything, I pulled my marker out and started doodling on my arm.

First I drew a heart on my wrist, then a smiley face higher up on my arm. I was just about to draw something else when a loud laugh across the room made everyone's heads shoot up.

Isaac was laughing so hard he looked like he was gonna fall out of his desk. Dylan was sitting at the desk next to him with a red face. I could barely make out him muttering something about how Isaac was just jealous.

I wonder what Isaac could be jealous of. Surely he couldn't want Dylan's enlarged ego. His jokes sure weren't that funny either.

The bell rang signaling the end of the day. Everyone got up fast including Isaac and Dylan. Dylan's face was still red as he left the classroom.

     Eight hours now.

It was ten minutes before ten. Everyone in the house was sleeping. Logan and Levi had a wrestling match in the living room earlier which took all their energy. My parents had also gone to bed early, as they left for a trip in the morning.

They were going to visit Sophia and her girlfriend. When my sister first found her soulmate everyone was so excited for her. They've lived together for the past three years. We're all waiting for a proposal to happen soon but Sophia says that she wants to take things slow.

I think I would want to do that too. Even though you know they're meant for you, you still have to take the time to get to know them. Which is what I'm gonna do tonight. There was a minute left until ten so I grabbed my marker.

     Hi? Are you there?

It took only a few seconds for the scratchy feeling of his pen on my arm.

     I'm here.

I took a deep breath and started writing.

I didn't catch your name last time?

     You can call me Leo.
