Dylan had been giving me rides to and from school almost everyday the past month. I had only just gotten the courage to ask him to drive me somewhere other than school. I was proud of myself.

He was driving me to a cafe in the town over where I was supposed to meet up with Katie. She said she needed to talk with me about something. After suggesting this cafe, she agreed to meet me there at noon.

It was about a fifteen-minute drive. So far, most of it had been in silence. Dylan hadn't even tried to turn the radio on. It felt too awkward to reach over and turn it on so I hadn't tried either.

Speaking of him, I looked over. His green eyes were just staring straight ahead. I'm all for safe driving but it was kind of creepy.

"Can you stop staring at me. It's weird."

I averted my eyes to my lap. Somehow I forgot he was only a foot away and could see me.

"Sorry," I said, daring to look up at him again. He rolled his eyes.

"What time do I need to pick you up."

"Could you come back in about an hour?" I asked softly, looking over to him again.

     He nodded his head.

I couldn't help but notice how soft his hair looked. It was a dark brown, almost black, and had a soft wave. I was stuck in another trance staring at him.

"Seriously, stop staring at me. This isn't some zoo." Dylan grumbled while shooting me a glare.

     I muttered a quick sorry.

     "You apologize a lot. Stop."

Almost saying sorry again, I said a quick 'okay' and went back to staring out my window. It looked like we were close.

As his truck pulled into the parking lot I saw Katie's car. She couldn't have been here long, as I was here five minutes early.

Dylan stopped by the door and I wordlessly hopped out.

Opening the front door I walked in. Katie was sitting at a corner table with two coffees. When she saw me she waved me over.

"Hey Charlie, hope you don't mind I ordered you a coffee," Katie said with a smile.

     "Not at all. Thank you."

Pulling out my chair I sat down and made myself comfortable.

Looking around, it was pretty empty. There were a couple of other people that seemed to be studying.

"What did you want to talk about?" I asked.

Katie made an uncomfortable face. "It's about Dylan."

     "What about him?"

"You need to tell him you guys are soulmates," Katie said while dodging eye contact.

"I'm not ready to yet. I haven't even found a good time to tell Aliyah and Olivia."

Katie took a sip of her coffee.

I pulled my coffee up for a drink and almost spit it out. It had a mint chocolate taste. That had to be my least favorite flavor on the menu. After swallowing it, I set the cup back down. Pushing it away so I didn't mindlessly grab it again.

Katie opened her mouth to talk again. "Well it's been weeks. He deserves to know."

I was starting to feel ambushed. "Maybe I'm not ready yet. He's hurt me Katie, and I don't want to just pretend that it never happened."

After I said that the conversation died out a little bit. We were both looking everywhere but each other. I heard a sigh across the table.

"You have until the end of next week."

With that Katie got up and walked out. I saw her start her car and drive off.

Who is she to think that she can control when I tell Dylan?! Before I tell him I want him to like me. I want him to apologize on his own, without knowing I'm his soulmate.

Sighing, I looked down at my phone. He wouldn't be back for another forty minutes.

After playing games on my phone for what felt like forever, Dylan's truck finally pulled up. I jumped out of my seat and threw my coffee in the garbage.

I felt bad about wasting it, but it was cold and gross.

Dylan rolled his window down and pointed to the backseat. There was loud music playing, which means Isaac was probably with him.

Opening the door I heard a scuffle in the front, then the music that was playing turned down.

"Hey Charlotte, how was your coffee?" Isaac asked as he turned around.

     "Um, good I guess?"

"Did you hear any good gossip?" Isaac asked curiously.

Dylan reached over and smacked him on the shoulder. "Charlotte doesn't gossip, stupid."

"How would you know that? I bet they were in there talking about how big your head was or something."

While I giggled, Dylan hit Isaac again.

"Maybe you should focus more on driving than hitting me." Isaac muttered while holding his shoulder.

Isaac reached over to turn the radio back up. When he finally found the right volume, he belted the lyrics.

I fell into a burnin' ring of fire

     I went down down down

     And the flames went higher

     And it burns burn burns

As much as I liked Isaac breaking the usual silence, his singing was horrible.

Having him as entertainment the ride back to my house went a lot quicker than the ride to the cafe. Before long we pulled up to my house.

Isaac waved goodbye to me and I opened my door.

     "Bye Charlotte."

It was so quiet I almost didn't hear it over the music. Dylan was actually being a nice person. I was so shocked at him that my mind went blank.

"You too." Right as the words left my mouth my cheeks went red. I hurried out of the car and closed the door.

Running up my driveway I unlocked my door and slid inside.

     You too? You too?!

Why can't I communicate like a normal human being?
