The warm sun was shining on my head. I had been sitting on the curb in front of my house for about half an hour.
After my mom told me about Dylan having to give me rides, I sent him an awkward text asking when he would be here. His arrival time had long passed.
I could've driven myself to school. Heck, my car was just a couple feet away. I wanted to see where this would take me. Now that I know he's my soulmate I'm curious.
The noise of a truck approaching made me lookup. There was a dark grey truck coming around the corner. The truck pulled up a couple of feet in front of me and the driver's side window rolled down.
"Get in the back, and hurry," Dylan said without looking at me.
Pulling open the door I dragged my backpack and overnight bag in. Looking up, Isaac was in the passenger seat. He looked back and made eye contact with me.
Isaac did a nod and turned back around. He reached his arm to turn on the radio. Country music blared, making us all jump.
"God damn it Isaac, what did I tell you about country music?"
Dylan said it like he was mad, but then the impossible happened. Dylan laughed. I had never even seen him smile and here he was laughing.
The rest of the car ride was Isaac switching between country radio stations and Dylan smacking his hand and changing it to rock.
When we got to school I got out of the truck as fast as I could.
As I was speed walking away I heard Isaac and Dylan laughing about something.

"Wait, wait, wait. So Dylan has to give you rides to school now?"
It was now sixth period. I had both Aliyah and Olivia in this class. We still had a few minutes before class officially started but it was a study hall so we could talk the whole period.
I was planning on telling them tonight at our sleepover but so much had happened I had to tell them now.
"Yeah, the last couple of days have been crazy. Hey did you guys know he has the ability to laugh?"
After I said that they both looked at me in shock.
Olivia spoke first, "It can feel?"
I nodded my head, "Something other than anger? Surprisingly, yes."
The bell rang signaling class was starting. Instead of the usual teacher a substitute walked in.
"My name is Mr. Jackson, I will be your substitute for today. There will be no talking. You can all work on homework." With that he sat down.
The girls and I looked at each other. We still had tonight to talk.
I pulled out my social studies homework and started writing. We were learning about the revolutionary war for like the one-hundredth time. By now I should know everything about it but it's so boring.
I wish we would learn about recent stuff, like politics, or climate change. I mean I'm about to graduate and the teacher has never gotten past the Korean War.
Aliyah's coughing broke the silence in the room. When I looked over her entire face and neck were red and swollen.
Hives were breaking out all over and she was gasping for air. Olivia noticed her at the same time I did and started yelling.
