A "Day off" Part 5

CAYDE

Well this should be entertaining... *Cayde said as the Nameless spawned in some goblins and started firing on the trio* Split up so we don't all get killed right away! *with that Cayde jumped to cover on the left, Phoenix rolled to cover on the right. The two of them managed to dodge the incoming shots from the Goblins, or "cannon fodder" as Phoenix liked to call them.*

PHOENIX

SOMEONE NEEDS TO REZ OUR TITAN!!!*Phoenix shouted as a Hobgoblin narrowly missed taking her head off, she then proceeded to turn the corner, and snipe the things head off*

JÄGER

AND HOW PRAY TELL DO YOU SUGGEST WE DO THAT?!?! *Jäger shouted back as he took down a couple more Goblins, before a Minotaur knocked him out of cover* SHIT I GOTTA MOVE!

PHOENIX

CAYDE! CAN YOU STAGGER THE DAMN THING?! I'LL GET IT TO CHASE ME WHILE YOU TWO COME UP WITH A PLAN AND GET HIS ARSE UP!*Phoenix shouted sounding rather pissed at the whole situation*

CAYDE

GOT IT! *Cayde then switches weapons to his heavy hitting bow named "The Leviathans Breath". He shoots a bolt at the Nameless's stomach, piercing though it's shields and causing it to stagger for a second. In this second, Phoenix ran out onto the field and started running around, causing the Nameless to focus on and chase her around, providing an opening for the others to revive the dead Titan and get back to cover*

BRICK

No time to be embarrassed kid, it happens. Get over it and save your embarrassment for later. Right now we need to focus on making a plan before Phoenix runs out of steam and/or gets killed by sheer numbers. SO!*Cayde clapped his hands together* Any ideas?

JÄGER

Well I do have one idea but we gotta time it perfectly and the main part is we need her with us on this.*He started to explain his plan when*

PHOENIX

WHAT THE FUCK IS TAKING YOU BOYS SO LONG I CAN'T DO THIS ALL- *The boys peaked over the wall they were behind just in time to see Phoenix get cut off suddenly when she was squashed under the Namless's foot when it stomped. Cayde and Jäger immediately fell to the ground laughing their arses off while Brick panicked a little bit. A few close calls, revive, and a an explanation later*

JÄGER

Okay, everybody understands the plan? *everyone nodded* good, let's get this over with...

Fight scene start

The four Guardians split off into groups of two, Phoenix and Jäger threw their Swarm Grenades over the wall to take care of the "Cannon Fodder" and to distract the Nameless, then ran a little ways away from the fight as Cayde and Brick mowed down the rest of the CF. After they finished off the smaller targets, they turned around to see Jäger sprinting at Brick, and Phoenix sprinting at Cyade. They quickly got into position at the last second, and threw the two of them into the air as they jumped. Sending them flying into the air towards the Nameless. They immediately pulled out their "Quickfang" swords and as the Nameless turned towards them, they cut off the things head. The head immediately popped off, luckily not exploding in the process. As they landed behind the Nameless,(who was in frantic mode, where the Vex in question will charge around and kill and destroy anything they encounter, as well as shoot randomnly.) they managed to catch the extraordinarily heavy Vex Mind head between them and sprinted to the side of the arena they were in to hide the head, as the whole point of the mission was to retrieve the contents of it intact. Meanwhile, Cayde and Brick loaded into the Nameless, Cayde with his bow, the Leviathan's Breath, and Brick with his fusion rifle, the Xenophage. Them hitting the Nameless simultaneously, caused it to slam into the far wall, giving Phoenix and Jäger time to rejoin the fight after hiding the head. The Nameless only had time to stand back up as two beams hit it in the stomach, the scorching burn of the Prometheus Lense from Phoenix, and the bitter freeze of the Coldheart trace rifle from Jäger, crossing streams into a burning ball of ice that forced the Nameless to its knees. As the two of them pinned the Nameless, Cayde walked between them and drew a bolt from his Leviathan's breath, aimed carefully, and sent the bolt straight into where the streams met, causing a supernova like explosion of Void, Solar, and Arc energy, immediately killing the Nameless once and for all. As this went down, Brick was watching in complete awe as he watched the three Hunters work like a finely tuned machine, and finally learned that underneath all the goofing off, Hunters are some of the heaviest hitters that can come out of the Tower. He made a mental note of this as he walked towards the group of three, who after letting the pure sense of absolute epicness of what they had just done sink it, had immediately started to high five and hug each other in a ball of cheering and rambunctious laughter.

*walks up to the group hug happening in the middle of the arena*

Well, that was... y'know what just remind me not to get on a Hunter's bad side alright?

JÄGER

Noted big guy, now let's clear the rest of these Vex out of here before one of them takes or destroys the head.

*10 minutes later*

CAYDE

Well, that was MUCH easier... *Cayde said with glee in his voice, causing the others to let out scattered laughs*

PHOENIX

Heh, well we're only most of the way done, we still have work to do, and be "we" I mean me and Jäger. The two of us are going to go pick apart the Vex head-

BRICK

Wait why do YOU TWO get to retrieve the parts?!

JÄGER

Don't get us wrong, you can help Cayde rip apart the rest of him! Zavala said Ikora wanted us to also bring back as many Vex Chassis parts as we can. But also let's face it, Phoenix and I were the only ones listening...

*cayde shouted "HEY" with mock offense from across the arena, to which Phoenix responded to by shouting back,"IT'S TRUUUUE!~" while trying not to laugh, to which he responded to by shrugging and going back to tearing apart the rest of the Nameless with a newfound gusto, causing the other Hunters to chuckle while Brick was rather annoyed*

BRICK

HEY!I WAS LISTENING TOO!!!

PHOENIX

I believe what Jäger was TRYING to say, is that this will require something of a delicate touch.

BRICK

What are you trying to say?!

PHOENIX

Hmmm... think of it this way... Hammer v.s Scalpel. As Hunters, we train to be precise, accurate, and swift. From what I've heard and seen of Titan training, you are trained to hit hard, be the big bad tank, and strike the enemy where it hurts. You are built for brute force, we're built for precision. That's all we're saying. You should go help Cayde, because as much as he'll deny it, he would probably enjoy having a buddy to help blow stuff up!

BRICK

Hmph... fine... *he huffed, turning and sulking towards where Cayde was starting to get a little too into it... Causing Jäger and Phoenix to chuckle, they then turned and started to dismantle the head.

*After a few hours, and a few close calls regarding a couple grenades(cough cough CAYDE), they gathered the supplies and transmatted them to Jäger's ship and started to head back up. When they finally reached the top, Phoenix walked over to the edge and sat down, watching the horizon. Upon seeing this, Cayde silently walked toward Phoenix. When he got over to her, he stood next to her in silence, causing Phoenix to look up at him, he looked down and asked-*

CAYDE

Is this seat taken?

*she chuckled and patted the space next to her on the ledge, causing him to sit down. They both stared out at the horizon in a comfortable silence, then Phoenix laid her head on his shoulder and watched the sun slowly set. Jäger chuckled and pulled Brick away to give the two some peace and quiet. They contacted Ikora and Zavala to tell them they had the parts, and that they were on their way back. The two of them alerted the two peaceful hunters that they were leaving, and the four of them transmatted to their ships and headed back to the Tower. Who knows what adventures they'll find? Only time will tell...
