Chapter 5

Ferdinand spent the rest of the day exploring the base getting to know where's located where. The armory was near the forge, the store room was up above, the stables he already knew where that was. He spent some time in the training room watching the fighters drill and hone their skills.

"So you're the new Ferdinand guy everyone's talking about."

Ferdinand looked behind him. His eyes saw a young girl just a little bit older than him. The length of her dirty blonde hair was between her chin and her neck, not to mention she had bangs.

"We have high hopes for you," she continued. Ferdinand remained silent.

The girl walked passed him into the training room. "You training?"

Ferdinand still stood silently.

"Alright then, suit yourself."

"Wait," he said. The girl turned around. "I'm training."

The girl stepped onto the matress followed by Ferdinand. "Your move," the girl said. Ferdinand hesitated, he's not really going to hit a girl, right? The girl raised an eyebrow as if to inquire whether Ferdinand was too much a coward to hit her. "Come on, don't be afraid."

Ferdinand was still hesitant but he eventually gathered the guts to do it although gently. The girl grabbed his hitting arm and using his momentum, she threw him to the floor with a thud. The girl stared him down. "Are you going to get back up?" Ferdinand did so.

She dared Ferdinand to make the first move all the time. And all the time he did, she always had a way of countering it, whether it be punches or kicks.

Dinner time came and the rebels grabbed their food and settled in the dining area with their buddies. Ferdinand being new, he didn't have anyone to spend quality time with. That girl he sparred with was certainly not in his field of vision, but he did see Atlas with a bunch of other people. He sat opposite of him sharing the same table.

"So, who's going to be teaching me tommorow?" Ferdinand asked.

"I haven't decided yet," Atlas answered. "I'll think of it after dinner."

Ferdinand looked over Atlas' shoulder and saw that dirty blonde haired girl looking at him. "Who's that girl over there?"

Atlas looked behind him. "Who? Pandora?"

"The one with dirty blonde hair."

"Yes, that's Pandora," Atlas verified. "Why?"

"We may have already stolen a headstart," Ferdinand explained. "So maybe, I can train with her?"

"You're gonna have to ask her for that." Atlas took in a spoonful of his food.

"I'll do it then." He stood up and walked to her. "Excuse me." Pandora looked at him. "You're Pandora, right?"

"Did Atlas tell you that?" she asked.

"Well... yes. The thing is, since I'm new to the Resistance and therefore untrained, and because you've trained me earlier today, maybe you want to personally train me until I'm a capable fighter?"

Pandora looked at her friends who started to giggle. "When do you want to start?"

"What about tommorow," Ferdinand said confidently.

"So be it then."

Ferdinand returned to his seat and took a spoonful of his food. "So how'd it go?" Atlas asked.

"She agreed. I'm beginning tommorow." He took another bite.
