Falling for Madara

Chapter 5

Akita's pov:

I'd been filling in for Inabe for a week at least, due to his wife getting angry every time he tried to leave. Not only that though, I've come to enjoy Madara's company. Although right now I'm mad at whoever was pounding on my door so early in the morning.

Upon opening it I realized that it was Tobirama and he had two men on each side of him dressed in black, one was wearing a mask like an owl and the other looked like a cat. "Hashirama has asked me to get you. I have something to attend to beforehand so please get Madara and go to the Hokage tower." I nodded and went to get dressed.

Once I was dressed in a symbol that I'd seen Hashirama wear I went out to go get Madara. It didn't take long to get to his house but I was getting strange looks from the villagers. Did I have something on my face?

"What?" Madara asked with a frown more noticeable than usual and dark circles. I reached my hand out to touch his face, he had ink smears on his forehead and his cheek.

"Did you stay up to finish those documents for the elders? You should've at least tried to sleep. Anyways Hashirama wants us." He looked stiff as a board and then coughed.

"I'll be out in a minute." I shrugged and waited for him on his front porch.

"Ahh Akita you're up early, clan business with Lord Madara again? You know you guys need a break at least every now and then." Mikone told me. I'd met her a few times, she was the mom of Kaji. She had invited me over for dinner quite a few times.

"Oh no, Hashirama summoned us so I came to get him." I waved my hands and she gave me sad eyes.

"My, the Hokage summoning you two so early, I hope everything's okay, listen I was going to take these over to the academy for Kaji's class and I made a few extra, you and Lord Madara can have them." She smiled while lifting up a plate of muffins.

"Really? You mean it?!" She chuckled and nodded. I grabbed three considering Madara eats a bit and he probably wouldn't even feel it if he'd only ate one.

I waved by and Madara came out soon after. He had cleaned his face and changed his clothes. I handed him his breakfast and we made our way towards the Hokage tower.

We were greeted by a few guards and were then taken into a room I assumed was Hasirama's office. "Akita, Madara, please take a seat." After we did he continued.

"Well Mito will become the nine tails jinchuriki tomorrow evening. Akita I need you to be there to control the nine tails. Madara, if Akita runs out of energy or is hurt in the process, I need you to put the nine tails in a genjutsu and control him that way, it will be more difficult but hopefully you could make him point his destruction away from the village."

He ran his hands through his hair and almost instinctively I chirped in "Don't worry Hashirama, Mito will be fine. It'll be a process and I can't promise it'll feel great but I'll do my best." Madara grunted in agreement.

Hashirama smiled and nodded "of course, thank you." After that it was small talk and we soon had to leave because Hashirama had to talk to the leaders of each separate clan about the process of making Mito a jinchuriki.

We were walking back to the compound when I heard footsteps behind me. "Akita, would you mind... Would you accompany me to lunch?" Tobirama worded it like it was a question but his actions made it seem more like an order.

"Oh of course, I'll stop by afterwards to help you with those documents Madara." I waved bye and walked into a part of the village I hadn't been to yet.

"Are you and Madara close?" Tobirama furrowed his eyebrows.

"I wouldn't say we're close but I'd like to think we're friends, at least I see him as a friend." Maybe Madara just saw me as an assistant or something. I shrugged it off and followed Tobirama into a barbeque place.

"Hmm, I've never had barbeque, but I've heard about it. It's Kaji's favorite so he talks about it like it's the best thing on earth." I chuckled before Tobirama gave me a somewhat confused look.

"Do you not know him? He just enrolled at the Ninja Academy, didn't you go to the opening ceremony?" He nodded. "You can't miss him, he's this loud kid with onyx eyes and spiked up hair that points in all directions." I tried jogging his memory but he looked almost angry.

"He doesn't ring a bell, but all Uchiha look alike to me." I furrowed my eyebrows and squinted my eyes.

"That's like saying every Senju looks the same. It just sounds rude. He shows a lot of promise, he even wants to be in the ANBU that you formed." Tobirama chuckled. Now I was lost, what was funny? Did I say something wrong or maybe I mispronounced something.

"He told you that did he? As if I'd let an Uchiha in the ANBU." I grit my teeth and slammed my hands on the table.

"Why not? You'd be lucky to have Kaji in your ANBU squad!" He looked shocked and I continued to stare him down but when he rolled his eyes I decided that I should leave. I could hear him shouting after me but I didn't stop.

I found myself in front of Madara's house and as usual I just walked in. I could hear a woman's voice, was Madara with someone?
