Myra stayed in the hospital for three weeks and Sean showed up every day with flowers. She realized she was looking forward to him opening the door and flashing that wide grin...it made her smile too and she was recovering fast.
He would stay with her, assist her in taking walks round the hospital, they would talk, laugh and sometimes they played games.
Davey and Julz showed up the day before she got out of hospital. She was told they were coming and she thought she was going to have another jealous rage meltdown seeing them together again.
"Hey, you're better now!" Julz exclaimed once inside, she was holding a bunch of daffodils. Dressed in a three-quarter sleeve crop denim jacket over a white mini gown with white sexy wedge sandals adorning her feet, Myra was beginning to like her plus her sense of style was way catchy. There was just one chair in the room, Davey sat on it and Julz sat by his side on the arm of the chair with one arm around his neck while he held her waist to make her more comfortable but Myra was more surprised at how calm she was - no rift in her chest.
They spoke of how horrified they were when they discovered that she was the one who had been hit by a car in front of the hotel. Davey had arranged his dad's private jet which flew her to Boston two days later.
She was grateful and she let them know.
"Stop wasting valuable time here, we can't wait to have you back in the office. Everyone is missing you," Davey winked a smile as they got up to leave.
"I can’t wait to come back to work either." For the first time since she knew him, his smile didn't have any effect on her; neither did she have that emotional craving feeling of wanting to be in his arms.
"Hey Davey, can I ask you one question?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"How come you weren't wearing your wedding ring on the day of that interview at The Seaport?"
Husband and wife both looked at each other. "I wasn't?"
Myra nodded.
"You didn't have your wedding ring on?" Julz glared at him.
"Oh that? It wasn't just on that day, if I remember correctly, I was without my wedding ring the entire week," he replied nodding at his wife.
"Oh yeah, I do remember what happened." Julz turned to Myra, “I wanted it engraved so I took it. Why do you ask?"
"You two are so perfect and madly in love and I was wondering why he would take his ring off."
"Very observant of you Myra, glad my wife had something to do with it, else I'd be in trouble right now."
They all laughed. As she was being wheeled out of the hospital doorway, she noticed Sean leaning on the side of his car, he didn't drive himself today. Wearing a cream colored chinos pants and a green cardigan with his blonde hair blowing in the wind, he was super hot. Right there it occurred to her...it had been Sean all along!
She might had been terribly carried away by his aura and charm and it made her delusional most times but she never really loved Davey, she realized now, she was merely infatuated by him – deceived by his ridiculous charm! Sean on the other hand, she fell in love with even before she met him right after that call about the second interview. Unknowingly, she knew she wanted to be with the owner of that soft, snuggled warmly voice, she was just too blind to admit it to herself. Even his jokes didn’t seem so lame, she laughed heartily every single time these days. She was crazy about him and couldn’t wait to tell the whole world how much she loved him. It took the accident to open her eyes and make her see things more clearly.
With quick steps, he was in front of her to aid her up. She already missed him so much having not seen him this morning. She put her arms coaxingly around his neck and drew him close and touched his lips with hers...he pulled her closer and kissed her long and firmly. Then he escorted her to the car, opened the back door and guided her inside and got in himself. The driver started the engine.
He kissed her again. "I'm so happy you're finally going home."
"Me too," she said as she peered deeply into his eyes.
He took her hand in his, "feeling better?"
She laughed gently, "Uh-huh...a whole lot better now that you're here."
He grinned.
“You know I love you, don’t you?” She put her head on his shoulder.
“Do I?” He frowned.
Myra tugged at him playfully and he pretended to be hurt.
“You know I do, and I love you too.”
A smirk appeared on her face as the car sped off. In the end it worked out pretty well all her dreams accomplished in one go!
