Crystals POV
Today was Friday, which meant that I was going to be having my annual sleepover with my friends Meghan and Ellie. Even though we were now sophomores in college, we were still having the same sleepovers that we have been having since we were in Elementary school. Of course it used to be just Meghan and I, and we obviously aren't doing the same things we used to do, but it is still something that I am able to look forward to at the end of a long week of school. I can vent to my friends about whatever I want. I must somehow choose good friends, because somehow we are all clear-sighted. This means that we can see through this magical veil that hides the mythological world from everyone else. So when I say that I can talk to them about anything and they can talk to me about anything, I literally mean it.

Now we have this other friend, Annabeth, who we meet at the beginning of freshman year in college. Oh, yeah, did I forget to mention that Meghan, Ellie, and I all got lucky enough to be accepted into the same college? Yeah well we were. Anyways back to the story. Our friend Annabeth has yet to come to one of our sleepovers, but not from a lack of trying on our part. Every week we ask Annabeth if she wants to come on Friday, but she always says no, that she doesn't want to wake us up with her nightmares. This may seem like a lame excuse to some people, it makes perfect sense for Annabeth since she is a demigod ( and yes Meghan, Ellie, and I all know about her heritage ). Anyways, we hoped that maybe this week would be different, really this was our hope every week, and so we asked Annabeth once again if she would come on Friday.

She still said no.

That was last week. It was once again Friday and so we tried to get Annabeth to come over tonight.

"Sure." Was all she said. The fact that she was finally coming over was a surprise, but that's not when things got strange. If all started this morning when Annabeth ran into class right before the bell rang. Her hair all over the place and her eyes red and puffy, as if she had been crying. I made a mental note to ask her about it later. She was quiet throughout the class period and didn't raise her hand once. Now this may seem normal Annabeth behavior because for most of the time that I have known her she is very reserved, but in class is her time to shine and she is always participating. That was something else I made sure to ask her about later.

As soon as class got out I ran out of the classroom to find Meghan and Ellie. I quickly spotted the two of them sitting on a bench. We didn't have any classes to get to so it was a perfect time to talk.

I rushed over to them and quickly started to question them about Annabeth's behavior, "Did you guys notice anything off about Annabeth today?" I asked them. They both looked at each other before looking back at me and nodding their heads.

"We should ask her about it. She already changed that first year after we met her, we don't want her to change anymore. Wait, that didn't sound the way I thought it would. What I mean is that we don't want her to be any sadder or reserved than she already is," Ellie said. She always was one to say things before she thought them through, so her words often came out not making much sense.

"Yeah, I noticed how sad she was too. Her eyes were really re- oh look there she is now. Let's go talk to her." Meghan said. Annabeth had her head turned down as we walked over to her. Apparently she found the ground very interesting. She must have not heard us coming because when Ellie tapped her on the shoulder she jumped a little. What was worse, was that her eyes were even redder and more puffy than this morning. When we asked her if she was okay she didn't say anything, when we asked her why she was crying she didn't say anything, when she did say something, it was only one word. That one word was her answer to coming over tonight. Sure.
