THE KARASUNO BOYS
volleyball club were the first to notice a change in Tsukishima's behavior, even when he hadn't. It wasn't his attitude, quite on the contrary he seemed to be speaking less than he usually did. It was how every time somebody entered the gym, his head would turn to see who it was. Or how he was always searching the room when he walked in or how he spaced out during breaks. It was... strange, to say the very least.

Only a week had passed since the incident and Ena had not contacted Tsukishima or arrived to his classroom on his free days. So when the brunette suddenly texted him, asking to meet up by a park near her house, he was quick to head out- leaving his studying aside. Of course, a day didn't pass by where Tsukishima Kei did not subconsciously or consciously look for her wherever he went.

Ena had arrived first to the place of meeting and chatted away with some kids who asked her if she knew how to play the game they were playing, which she did indeed, know how to play.

Tsukki watched from a distance, observing her form and how she smiled brightly at the kids around her. A smile he was so used to seeing, he felt anxious not having seen it in the past week.

He didn't love her, after all, love was something inexistent, but maybe, just maybe, he liked her. Or rather he enjoyed her company, something he cannot say about most people. No matter how annoying her loud laugh could be, he had quickly grown accostumed to it. He always felt that the time he spent her was only a few minutes when really- they were hours. Hours of conversation, hidden smiles, and certainly hidden stares. If love existed, he could not doubt the fact that perhaps he could some day love her.

But, love didn't exist. Not for him.

The blond slowly approached the shorter girl and cleared his throat to catch her attention, which worked as Miyamoto quickly turned around to face the megane. Her eyes quickly brightened up.

"Tsukki!"

The boy mentally swore, as he almost blushed at the view of her being so happy to see him despite what had occurred the week before.

"Don't call me that, Miyamoto-san," he muttered, shoving his hands in the pockets of his dark blue hoodie.

She laughed, looking up at him with such bright eyes that it even made him feel out of place. Was she really looking at him with such eyes? At him? Of all people?

"Gomen, Tsukishima-san. Lets sit down!"

Now, although Miyamoto Ena seemed normal, she cannot deny that her heart had indeed been punched when she heard the conversation between him and his classmates. When she arrived home, she cried, ate, and then cried some more. She even contemplated giving up and dedicated herself to forgetting about him, but she didn't even last two days. So here she was, filled with energy and hopes of somehow, getting through to him that love truly does exist. After all, there Ena was, despite it all.

The pair sat down on a bench and the brunette quickly took out a box from her bag, handing it to him with a plastic fork.

"Strawberry shortcake for you... It was time-consuming to make but it was easy, since i like to bake i already knew how to do most of the stuff," she babbled to the boy who was attentive to her words. The brunette turned and blushed. "Sorry, I'll stop talking now."

Tsukishima wanted to tell her to continue talking and that he certainly did not mind her talking his ear off, but instead he only remained silent.

"Thanks..." His voice trailed off.

Reading his mind, she blushed sheepishly, brushing some hair behind her ear.

"You ordered three pieces when we went out to the cafe... I asked Yachi about it and she told me that you really like strawberry shortcake so..."

He blinked and then nodded in understanding. It felt strange to him. She was very observant and detail-oriented, something he thought was quite rare. For some reason, he felt even worse than before. The tall middle blocker simply was not used to the feeling of guilt, which now consumed him.

His hazel eyes were fixated on her. He couldn't stop staring at her, millions of thoughts and words rushing to his brain as his heart squeezed in pain. Tsukishima couldn't help but imagine what his life could be like if she was there beside him. Perhaps love didn't exist, but this time, deep down, a part of him wanted it to. Only if it was for the innocent girl beside him, who deserved everything good in the world. Tsukki wasn't heartless just broken, and he could never bring himself to inflict the same type of brokeness upon the only person who had made him forget the pain, even for just a while.

"Miyamoto-san... I am a good person, but not a good man," he told her, looking off into the distance as he spoke. "You should find a good man to protect you, okay?"

Ena gulped, her eyes going back and forth trying to find an answer as many things rushed to her head.

"Although you say that, I don't mind, I never expected that of you. Besides it's really too late for that, because I," the brunette set her eyes on his. "I love you."

"Thank you."

Ena rolled her eyes and flicked forehead, giggling at the small smile that ghosted over his lips.

"You're acting like this is the end and you still owe me another month so shut it, and eat the damn cake," she muttered, blushing as she looked away.

Tsukki put down his fork and cleared his throat.

"Miyamoto-san, look at me," he demanded, looking at her flushed face.

The brunette turned and Tsukishima swiftly leaned in and placed a chaste kiss on her pink lips.

The girl's eyes widened and she did all but pull away. Instead, she only leaned in more and sank into the feeling of his lips on hers. Ena could hear her own heart pound against her chest and when he slowly pulled away she remained frozen, blinking.

"Don't look at me like that you dummy, it was just a kiss," Kei told her, smacking her forehead with the palm of his hand.

"Tsukishima-san," the female breathed out, her hand shaking lightly. "Do you like me?"

Tsukishima stood up with the white box of strawberry shortcake and fork in his hands.

"I don't like you, I don't hate you... but it wasn't bad. I'll see you whenever."
