I nervously walked up the white stairs into the first day of my job as an assistant at the Agency with nothing but my identification and notebooks. I struggled to hold them as I scanned my I.D. to get into the massive building until a door swung open upon my entrance. A small woman with long brown hair and green eyes sat at a large white reception desk, she looked up from her monitor as I began to speak to her.
"Hi, I'm y/n, the new assistant. Do you have any directions where I am supposed to be?" I asked while pushing a blonde lock of hair out of my face. Her piercing green eyes looked at the number on my I.D., which was attached to my white button-up shirt, and glanced at it while typing it into her computer.
"It says here that you are to be in your own office by 10:00 am," she said while glancing behind me at a clock, "and it is 9:30."
I felt myself get nervous because I didn't know if that was enough time.
"Don't worry, that's plenty of time. Your room number is 102C, which means it is on the third floor. Anything with C at the end means it is on the third floor, while B is second, and A is first, the floor we are on now. There is an elevator down the hall and on the right. Your room should be on the left and just straight down the hall once you get out of the elevator. Your administrator will be in your room by 10:00, all you need to do is settle yourself in your office and get comfortable." She reassured me.
"Thank you so much," I said while glancing at the name on her I.D., "Nova."
"You're welcome." She smiled. I began to walk towards the hallway she told me the elevator would be in and I noticed the number of men in white uniform assigned to each hallway. I had somewhat of an idea of the security of this Agency, but I didn't know that each hall had an armed guard. Anyways, I reached the elevator and walked in with two guards. The two of them looked at me and then back at each other as I pressed Floor C into the button menu. As each floor dinged I could feel myself shudder with anxiety. I thought to myself: I have no idea who's assistant I am. I worried that I would get stuck with a rude person but then again, they could be super sweet. All of a sudden, the elevator reached the third floor. I looked back at the guards and they nodded at me as if it was okay for me to go. Walking out, I immediately turned left towards an indoor skywalk that went across the entrance of where Nova's desk was. If I looked down, I could see her desk. I looked at her and kept walking as if I were waiting for her to look up at me, but she didn't. Instead, I ran into someone. I looked up from my books that were on the floor until I saw a guard looking back at me. I felt my cheeks get hot as I was embarrassed.
"Oh my god, I am so sorry," I said while picking up my books and pens.
The guard nodded and helped me gather my things. I had all of my stuff together but we just awkwardly looked at each other, so I got out of his way and found my office at the end of the skywalk. The door required my I.D. to be scanned before I could enter, so I pulled it from my shirt and scanned it until I heard it click. I walked in and it was much bigger than what I had imagined. The desk faced the door and the left side of the room had a view of the Agency lobby, and the other side had a view of the river next to the agency. I placed my belongings on my desk and arranged them to where I wanted, and I anxiously sat at the desk waiting for my administrator. I stared at the clock which only read 9:50, so I got up and decided to look out of my window to the river, gazing at the constant moving water and the occasional swimming duck. The silence was then broken by the sound of my door clicking and swinging open. I looked over and gawked at the man standing at the door, everything felt like it was in slow motion. His dark brown hair was combed neatly and he had tattoos covering his arms and neck. He had a chiseled jawline and a resting smirk on his passive, dead-eyed face. A deep, dark scar reached from his forehead, through a pale, grey eye, all the way down to his cheekbone, while the other side bestowed a glowing golden eye, staring back at me. His pale skin radiated a glow in the sunlight while his black vest and tie accented his thin but masculine figure.
