Chapter 26

The ground shook as Midas was unconscious on the roof of the agency, and the Ghost agents watched as water began to slowly flood and get higher. I was watching in all directions as the water got closer, and closer. It could of submerged a sky scraper.

All of the Shadow members had on some kind of suit that looked similar to an astronaut type of suit. They saw us watching the event in horror, and their evil grins curled as the water approached, leaving us in a circle.

"You guys created us as an experiment," Shadow Midas shouted, "So I must destroy you all as a result."

The Ghost agents locked our hands together and watched as a team. We were family, we would end as a team.

The water circled around us, leaving a small space of air before it would completely flood the map and drown us all. They hesitated before pushing the button and killing all of us.

Shadow Midas looked at us, and then the towering water. He finally flung Ghost Midas on the roof as if he was a rag doll. He looked to be unconscious or dead, I doubted he was dead because they wanted him to watch this event unravel.

Our eyes were glued to the scene as the water inched closer and closer. We had finally given up and had no other choice but to watch the mayhem, we hadn't even thought about the citizens Shadow had already killed.

Finally, he slammed the button and everything was gone. In just a split second, everyone was engulfed in water.

Our hands held on together hard as we were being washed away in the mass of water we were in. We all expected to die in this mess but suddenly, Skye awoke while on Meowscles shoulders.

Her bright blue eyes shone in the water, and she pulled Ollie off of her head. She shook him a bit and he filled with air like a life raft. Soon, we began to float upwards, but it was taking so long. I held my breath and my lungs burned of old oxygen and carbon dioxide. My body was begging me for another breath.

As we rose, I watched Shadow members floating as well. But Midas was not to be seen. His body was most likely just being washed away in the water effortlessly.

My heart ached at the thought of him just dying instantly with the amount of knowledge and power he bestowed on himself.

The intelligent, handsome, loving and kind man that I loved was just a body floating in a body of water. Killed for no reason at all.

As I held my breath along with the misery and pain inside of me, my hands had touched fresh air. I squirmed to get to daylight and oxygen and finally my head broke through the water that had one been suffocating me.

I opened my mouth and gasped, feeling instant relief with the fresh air that entered my lungs. I couldn't stop breathing. It felt like I had lost the privilege to breathe for years.

I was so focused on regaining air that I hadn't realized that all of the Ghost agents were alive and also soaking up the air.

"Midas," I said, thinking as if he could've been with us.

"Y/n, just breathe," Meowscles said.

"Midas." I said with pain.

"It is going to be okay," His voiced cracked, realizing one of his best friends is deceased.

"He didn't make it." I said as pain fell from my mouth but still lingered throughout my body.

"Y/n it's going to be okay, we all have each other," Skye said while holding onto Ollie.

"What are we going to do," Tina said, staring blankly into the deep water.

"We will be together," Meowscles said. We all stayed silent and listened to the waves crash against each other.

Meowscles attempted getting us back to our agency but none of our barcodes could work. They were water proof but they must have been hacked.

The things I would do to be laying in Midas's cold silky bed with him. I would give away anything to be next to him and watch him smile. I would kill to just see his stern, mean looking face.

He came off as arrogant and mean with just his looks, but he was single handedly the kindest, most generous being I had ever met in my life. He was so giving and sweet to just anyone, but you had to earn his respect. Even before you earned his respect, he was still a nice person.

"The waters going down," Tina said, as we all looked down and saw the ground getting closer.

"How is this possible?" Brutus asked.

"How was any of this possible?" Meowscles asked, "None of this seemed realistic at all until it happened. Maybe this is just a huge dream. Let's hope this is just a fucking dream."

"It's not a dream." Skye said.

I watched as we came back down and the flag poles of the agency poked out of the water, slowly but surely. But the agency wasn't there when we reached the wet, soggy ground. It had exploded.

"What happened??" I asked.

"They must have blown it up while we were at the top," Meowscles said. This pretty much confirmed that Midas was dead. I began to shake uncontrollably.

"We need to find him," I said.

"Y/n, no. We need to find a way home. We need to get to a safe spot before they come find us and kill us," Meowscles said.

"I need to know if he's alive," I said, and began to walk off but he grabbed my wrist firmly.

"Y/n, we need to go home. Listen, whatever happened, we will be okay. Okay? Now come with us," He said. I didn't move, I glared at him until he loosened his grip.

I decided to go with them and find shelter. Meowscles was right, we needed to find a safe spot.

We decided to camp out in a small shack in Weeping Woods, although it had been flooded and there were huge bodies of water covering the once green grass. There were fish everywhere, even sharks. Every step we took, the ground sank under our feet. We had to make sure to be extra careful so no one got stuck.

I sat in our small shack with Tina as the others went to find basic survival resources.

"Y/n, if it makes you feel any better, if Midas survived, he would be able to find us. He knows where to go," She said.

"How do you know that?" I said.

"He is one of the luckiest men to have ever existed, and if he were to guess where we were, it'd be here," She said calmly. I just soaked in the information and waited.

It was dark outside and everyone was asleep around our fire, and I stayed up all night and waited, and waited and waited for his return.
