Chapter Ten: Betrayal

Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap. Aedan thought to himself. How did they break the spell?!

   "Listen, I know I didn't tell you everything, but it's for your own safety. " Brendan guiltily said "I lied, we all make mistakes, so please just come with us. ".

   The squad suddenly felt themselves getting tense. The guard was stiffening their bodies so they won't escape them. It was called the Ukwenza spell.

   "What did we do wrong? I don't understand. We literally did nothing." Aedan lied. The guards started to force the crew to walk next to the guard.

   "You have violated the rules of most of the kingdoms in the region close to here." The guard replied sternly. Their feet crunched the gravel like sand below them. Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.

   "Give an event where we have violated the rules." Francesco asserted. The guard nodded. "Very well then" He replies.

   "July 8th at 1:06 pm, your group crashed Princess Elie and Prince Jack's wedding ceremony. You're lucky they resceduled it to a week from now. They were expected to have a baby before their wedding, before you ruined it. Also my name is James by the way" James dreadpanned.

"Yeah well they didn't NEED the ring they have an entire fortune!" Tyler greedily inturupted "Also we didn't even know that they were having a baby!".

"The same day you killed 3 guards and injured 7 of them." James argued. Riley tensed up as she struggled out of the grip of air. "July 20, 9:46 pm, you damaged property and almost killed 5 guards, 10 prisoners and 30 civilians." James followed up.

"THATS A LIE! THAT EXPLOSIVE WAS ONLY A FLASHBANG! THAT SHOULDNT HAVE HURT ANYONE THAT BADLY!" Tyler agrued with tears in his eyes.

James raised his eyebrow and said "You knew that that spot was a weak point, you CHOSE to put an explosive there. After it went off the roof gave in causing a miner sinkhole.". "You really are the cruelest of them all. " James chuckled.

"James let's go, I know you can probably handle the dark forest but it's a blood moon tonight " Brendan interrupted walking to a tree with an X on it.

"Olright, Olright! I got et!" He replied as he pointed his finger under the four. "Ikheji eligcwele" he said as a small ice cage trapped them.

"Really? An ICE cage? ITS FREEZING ALREADY AND YOU ARE PUTTING US IN AN ICE CAGE?!" Aedan complained sarcastically.

   "Why make us suffer when we already have a punishment ahead of us from the King and Queen of Walta? "Riley groaned. Tyler, Aedan, and Francesco agreed. Brendan and the guard nodded.

   " It is for the protection of Walta, so you don't go off bombing the kingdom. " Brendan replied. The four rolled their eyes.

   "We promise to not try to escape" Francesco blurted out.

   "We still don't trust you." James blatantly said. They continued to walk to the kingdom.

   "200 gold." Francesco bids

   "No." James replies.

   "2000 gold??"

   "No."

   "200,000 gold."

    "Still no." James started "Money does not pay freedom."

   "Pipe it down you two. We are entering the building. You must bow before the King and Queen of Walta when we walk in." Brendan ordered.

   "I mean...I would, if you know, I WASN'T CRAMPED IN AN ICE CAGE!" Tyler complains while he struggles to get comfortable. Francesco started poking around the cage, searching for ways to get free.

After thinking about it, Riley slid closer to Brendan and asked "Hey Brendan...I know you lied about uh...literally everything, but, did you lie about being his uncle?".

Brendan sighed, "No, I really am Aedans uncle. Even Though it might not be believable after what happened, I did not lie about such a thing.".

   "Okay...I just wanted to let you know that you let him down." Riley sighed, sliding back to one side of the cold cage.

Brendan sighed as he lit a torch to see.

   "Anything so far?" Riley whispered to Francesco looking around for an exit.

   "No...its like the Ice is so compact not even fire can melt it..." Francesco replied worriedly.

   "Then there is no use in struggling. We should just give up." Tyler sadly said. He looked down in despair.

   "No. We are not quitting. We are the Runaway Rogues. The -almost- greatest known criminals in history." Aedan bravely states.

   "Well at least someone is being optimistic here...." Tyler whispers.

   "We all are trying to be as optimistic as we can, Tyler. Aedan does have a point. If we give up now, we will not achieve our dreams. We will not be successful. But if we don't give up, and keep trying, we WILL be able to do this. Got it crew?" Riley assured them.

   "Got it." They all replied it unison.

   "Bow down before the King and Queen!" James suddenly shouts. The Kingdom of Walta's giant doors open, showing a huge room with the King and Queen of Walta sitting in the back of it.

   The 'prisoners' bow down to them, but barely do, because there was simply just no room to bow in the cramped ice cage.

   "I've heard that the Queen is a canibal. She slits their necks and eats them for breakfast, it instantly kills them, because she breathes in their faces, and her breath will kill them with the stench." Aedan jokes. Riley, Francesco, and Tyler all giggle.

   "ENOUGH!" Queen Lillian shouts. "If you speak one more word, until asked to, you will be sentenced for MORE TIME. Got it?!?" She continues. The rogues nodded their heads.

   "Now as you know, they have done some pretty devastating things to this world. They have stolen, bombed monuments,...Murdered innocents...and much more that I cannot list." King Patrick started "So they will be getting a six day punishment here in Walta. They will also have to spend two of those days helping us with a few errands and one of those days writing what weapons they have on them, why they have done what they did, and who they really are. The fourth day they will be sitting there with nothing, not even a notebook and a pen." The King dictated. "The fifth day, they will be tortured by the public. And finally, On the sixth day, the death punishment."

   They all gasped.

THE DEATH PUNISHMENT?! Tyler thought to himself.

   "Guards! Take them to the dungeon! NOW!" Queen Lillian shouts.

   "Yes my queen!" They all reply.
