Mattia was on the cusp of sleep. Sound wasn't entering his ears as much and his eyes were beginning to glue shut. He was comfortable and falling into a deep slumber... until Kairi texted him.
Kairi
i'm on my way over
Mattia stared at the screen, not even bothering to text back. He closed his eyes again, exhausted. He curled underneath the blanket and began drifting off... and then he heard a knock on his window. It was 2:15 am and Kairi was coming over for no good reason at all. Mattia stretched and unlocked the window, pulling it and quickly flopping back onto his bed. It was cold out and Mattia was shirtless wearing shorts to bed. The cold wind sent shivers down his spine but he covered himself back up under the covers. Kairi crawled through the window and shut it behind him, yanking off his shoes and pulling off his coat. Kairi looked at the already half asleep Mattia and smiled, getting into bed with him. Mattia turned to his side and wrapped his arm around the shorter boy.
"Is everything okay at home, Kai?" Mattia grumbled.
"Yeah, just needed to get out of there." Kairi replied, sleep brushing over him.
Kairi turned to face Mattia.
Mattia whispered, "I'm glad you're fine, now get some rest."
