I knelt beside my dying grandmother on the city sidewalk, as she whispered her last few words. "Raina" she croaked. " Yes grandmother, I'm here" I replied, tears streaming down my face. " Remember. Remember the stories I told you. Remember you are special. You are more than what you think. The Kree has bestowed upon you something much more grand than most humans receive. You are different. Special. At least that is what you will become. Don't you ever forget it". And those last words, the loving grandmother I always have loved slipped from gaze and her eyes gently closed. She was dead. I let out a scream and buried my head in her chest. The night sky took on a reddish hue and I sobbed uncontrollably. My grandmother had raised me since the day I was born and now she was no longer going to be here with me. I looked up and saw two men walk towards me. "She looks like a promising catch" one said. "I agree" the other replied. "Where are your parents little girl"? "My grandmother" I said between sniffs." She's right here. She's dead". The two men chuckled and grabbed me by the arms. "Then you're coming with us" they sneered and dragged me away from my dead grandmother. " Let me go I pleaded" fighting against their gripping arms. They only laughed and continued to hold me hostage. I slipped out of the over coat I was wearing and bolted the opposite way. They realized a little too late and I had put a decent amount of distance between myself and the men. I looked back and saw the two men turn around to leave. They didn't even make a chase for me. But I kept running. I ran from the street, from the town, from country. I left any remembrance of my grandmother in that wretched town of Nu Hung. I didn't want to remember anything. Not even the odd last words of my grandmother.
