she taught herself how to do everything she loved. it wasn't a leisure activity, it was a chore. she was repulsed by her interests. sometimes, good people make it fun.
i grew up at the park. not the a good one but they're all similar none the less. my father surfed. my mother skated. it wasn't rocket science what i would do. the bowl was my favorite. everyone that was tired sat on top of it and jokingly scored other people's bails. turned it into a ghetto x-games.
"cooper, i dont think i should!"
i laughed and watched him coast around the concrete.
"you don't have to."
he smiled and put his hood up before kicking his board into his hand. then he walked over to me and sat next to me. i scooted closer to him and sat my board on my other side to leave less awkward space.
i looked at him and laid my head on his shoulder. he put his hand on my leg and held his board with the other.
"iza, we don't have to stay here."
he hummed and squeezed at my knee.
"my place or yours?"
i muttered and swung my legs. cooper shrugged and rested his chin on my head. we sat there for a bit until more people started showing up. it was peaceful before the screaming kids rolled into the park, i took initiative and stood up and reached my hand out to help him up.
"its almost 2, my place?"
"okay, boss."
i giggled at cooper calling me "boss" before i picked up my board and started to walk to my car. then cooper followed next to me. we got in the car and sat there for a bit before i turned the key in the ignition. i handed cooper the aux and let him do as he pleased.
"can we stop at the house?"
cooper asked while scrolling through his music,
"yeah."
i drove to his house. it was quiet, the music wasn't, there wasn't any conversation. it was nice. the windows were down, it was almost a perfect day. god damn it was just pretty out.
i rolled into the driveway and cooper got out, he stood there and stretched his arms out and groaned. i smiled and looked at him.
"you good dude?"
"sleepover?"
he laughed and grabbed his board from the floor of my car.
"oh, please."
i laughed and slid down in my seat as he ran into the house. i scrolled through my phone and turned the engine off.
"iza!"
i heard someone yell. i peak up and see noah sitting on the porch step. i waved before getting out of my car and sat on the porch with noah.
"what's up chick."
"nothin, man."
i pulled my lighter out of my pocket and started flicking the flame.
