"Maman , okay okay !" i giggled , trying to pry my crying mother off of me .
She was slightly mad at me for leaving her , to go to L.A , America . But i could not pass up this oppurtunity . When papa gave word that the morson family was willing to let me work at their house and experience american culture for six months , i had to take the offer.
Who knew when a chance like this would come up again ?
" Je déteste que vous quittez !" , my mother spat .
I hate that you are leaving me .
I recited that term in english in my head . I have been learning english every day for about five years . Its coming in handy now !
I took my mothers face in my hands , assuring her that i will call her everyday , if not twice a day ." I am going to be late for my plane maman ! " I cried , finally pulling out of her grip . I kissed my papa's chubby face , and headed out the door .
I ran to the taxi we called about thirty minutes earlier with all of my belongings , and by all of my belongings i mean a few pairs of clothes , My passport , My favorite stuffed animal , coco ( Yes , named after the fashion icon ) , and my plane ticket. And some american money . Just for traveling and about
a weeks stay in america , before i really go shopping . The host parents treat , they told me .
I didnt want to wear my tattered country girl clothes anyways . I wanted to experience real american culture . Meaning the appearance too ! The glossy hair , perfect teeth , glamorous clothes , and fabulous makeup .
My hair was about butt legnth , light brown , and fairly shiny . I would like to thank my maman for never letting me cut it .
Though i was kind off skinny and medium height , i knew i could fix the skininess with intricate clothing choices and some of that fatty american food . Apparently american families eat out almost every night , anyways .
I knew i would fill out eventually . I was only 18 , so i had plenty of time for Gros Seins to grow anyways .
My eyes were my favorite feature though . They were big , almond shaped , and sky blue with thick lashes . My lips were okay . a tad too thick for my liking . Kids at school teased me about them for so long , i grew to hate them . Even going to such lengths to try and flatten them ! but now , i have come to terms with them .
my facial structure was so so , kind of sunken in cheeks , and a high forehead.
Overall , i considered myself attractive , but not to the point where i thought i could be a model or anything . Just average .
I waved at my parents , who were standing at the door , holding each other with grief stricken faces . I loved my parents the most in this whole world , but i couldnt stay here forever ! I waved at them through the window , blowing kisses , sending all of my love . I watched them through the back window , until they became little dots in the distance , blending in with this place i called home . The most beautiful sight i have ever laid my eyes on .
I turned around and started playing with my phone . looking at pictures of new york . Hopefully the morsons would take me there .
" To the airport?" , the driver asked me , in his thick french accent .
" Yes Sir " , i told him smiling . I couldnt stop grinning . This was actually happening !
" Excited ?" , he said , smiling up at me through the rearview mirror .
" Of course !" , i yelled , louder than i meant to say .
He chuckled , amused by my bubbly excitement .
" Where you headed to ?" , he asked , curious .
" Like , where in the world ?" , i asked , confused .
" Oui." , he shook his head yes .
" America ." i said , excited to have the word roll off my tongue .
" Wow !" , he said impressed .
I smiled a little more , as he turned into the airport .
He told me the total , and i gave him it , plus a nice tip . Just because !
I went through airport security fairly easily . No problems .
I finally sat down in my seat in first class , popped my headphones in , and dozed off .
Ready for America .
