Eleven: Promise

Riele's POV

Jace and I were kissing.

Like here I was kissing the guy that I could not get out of my head.

I am cheating on my boyfriend.

But all I can focus on is Jace's lips against mine.

I kissed him back and wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer to me. Jace snaked his arms around my waist and squeezed my hips. He tilted his head and deepened the kiss putting his tongue in my mouth.

I moaned into the kiss and grabbed his hair gently tugging on it.

Jace slowly pulled away from the kiss and pecked my lips one last time. I gazed into his eyes and he gazed back giving me a small smile.

But then my common sense came back and I raised my hand and smacked him across the face.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" I asked him.

Jace stared at me with confusion on his face, "Why the hell did you just slap me?" He asked me.

"You just fucking kissed me Jace!" I screamed.

"And you kissed me back" He yelled.

My mouth shut and everything fell silent. I did kiss Jace back and I really much enjoyed it, but I knew it was wrong and I hated myself for feeling this way.

"...yeah, well it was a mistake and you need to get the fuck out of my house" I said pointing to the door and turning around to go upstairs but Jace grabbed my hand and spun me around pulling me closer and holding me.

"Riele you know damn well that you felt something in that kiss, you've been feeling this for a long time. So have I" Jace said.

"That doesn't matter Jace, I'm with Caleb and you're with Isa-"

"I broke up with Isabela" Jace cut me off.

My eyes widened and I broke away from his grasp staring at him like he had two heads.

"Are you out of your fucking mind Jace?!" I exclaimed.

Jace gave me a blank stare and looked at the ground.

"You broke up with Isabela for me?" I asked him.

He met eyes with me and nodded his head, "Yes" He said.

"Why? Why the fuck would you do that?!" I asked running a hand through my curls.

"Because I love you!" Jace shouted.

I shook my head, "No you don't Jace, we are best friends and that's all we're ever going to be. The sooner you accept that, the better" I said.

"Rie you don't get it" He said. "I've been thinking about this twenty four seven. I've gotten advice from friends, mainly Cree" He said taking a deep breath. "I realized that something was off about me after we drunkenly slept together. Not just that the sex was good but my head was fuzzy and all I kept thinking about was you. I was thinking about when I was with Isa, I was so upset when I saw you posting pictures with Caleb, I laid in bed at night just wanting you in my arms. That's when I knew that I didn't love Isabela anymore. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever did" He said.

My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest and I was starting to nervously sweat.

"I think I was in love with the thought of her, because when you're in love with someone you don't think about anyone else except that person. All you want is to be with the person whom your in love with. They're on your mind all the time, you're not with them just for the sex, you're with them for their personality too because that's what makes a person-"

"In?" I asked.

"What?" Jace asked.

"You said 'in'" I said.

"What about it?" He asked me.

"You're in love with me?" I asked him.

Jace took a step closer to me and held my hands, "Rie, I may have been with Isa and loved her. But I wasn't in love with like I'm in love with you" He said wiping tears that were rolling down my cheeks that I didn't even notice had fallen.

"Jace I-" I looked into his eyes and they were watery. Jace was really crying right now, over me. Jace rarely cries and when he does it's usually because it's about something serious.

I'm that something serious.

"Please Rie, just give me a chance to show you that I love you and I will treat you like a queen" Jace said.

I reached up and stroked his cheek, "Jace I can't cheat on Caleb it's not fair to him" I said to him.

"But you don't love him Riele, you love me" Jace said.

He was right, I didn't love Caleb. I'm in love with Jace.

"You're right but it's still not right, give me a few days to break things off with him at least" I said taking my hand off his face and backing away from him.

"Do you promise?" Jace asked.

"Do I promise what?" I asked arching an eyebrow.

"Do you promise that you'll break up with him and then we can be together?" He asked me.

I walked up to him and grabbed his face bring him down to my level. I connected our lips together and smiled into the kiss. I pulled away and pecked his lips one more time.

"I promise" I said.

"And then Asia got mad at me because I couldn't play dolls with her and she threw a banana at my face" Caleb said even though I wasn't listening at all.

I let out a forced laugh and gave him a smile that didn't reach my eyes.

"You okay babe?" He asked me.

I was startled at his question, "Yes" I nodded. "I'm fine, just a little tired" I lied.

"Well we can go back to your house and I can cuddle you until you fall asleep if you want?" He suggested making my heart swell.

"No it's cool we can chill here, Cree's picking me up here anyways for a shopping spree with her" I chuckled.

"The amount of clothes y'all buy I'm confused why y'all need more" Caleb said.

"Girls will be girls" I shrugged.

"Man I love you" Caleb said moving a curl out of my face and kissing my cheek.

I felt guilt wash over me and I wanted to curl into a ball and cry. Caleb is so so so sweet to me and I already cheated on him with Jace multiple times. I feel like a slut.

"I love you too" I whispered so I wouldn't start crying.

A horn honked outside and I knew it was Cree.

"That's Cree" I said standing up and gathering my stuff.

Caleb walked me downstairs and opened the door. He kissed my cheek and smiled, "I'll call you later baby, have fun" He said.

"Thanks" I smiled quickly leaving the house and getting into Cree's car.

"Drive!" I exclaimed.

"What's going on?" She asked reversing out of the driveway and heading towards the mall.

"I have so much to tell you" I groaned laying back on the seat.

Cree side eyed me and chuckled, "Hey, we got time" She laughed.

"Well first....Jace and I kissed"
