Living with Loki has been... different. Explaining customs that seemed simple enough didn't make sense. Today I have the delight of explaining Halloween to Loki. We lived in a small community that posted flyers about trick or treating from 5-7. Loki saw one and inquired about the purpose of 'trick or treating.' I found the candy that I had bought about two weeks ago and poured it into a bowl. I rushed to the door at the first ring. Loki had been quicker and opened the door to a two little boys at the door. One dressed up as him and the other dressed up as Thor. "What interesting choices."

"Trick or treat!" The two boys radiate holding out their bags for a piece of candy.

"And just what kind of trick do you plan on?" As Loki looked down on the children they tilted their heads to side.

I lightly push into the doorway. "Here you go." I place two a piece. "Have a great night." I wave to their parents at the sidewalk and close the door.

"That was rather rude."

"Loki, they are children out for Halloween. They just want some candy."

Loki took a few pieces. "I'll take some as well."

The night moved quickly. Between answering the door to give out candy and defending the candy from Loki. At nine o'clock I turned off the porch light. "I hope you didn't eat too many sweets."

Loki leans back into the couch with one arm across my back and the other resting on his stomach. I pull up Netflix looking for a movie. "I think I could come around to liking this holiday."
