Falling. Looking around at the empty that was surrounding my body. It is pointless to try and save myself from this fall with the void that is all consuming. Unknowing if there is anything to reach toward. There is a tiny bit of hope in this darkness that blinds me. A sliver that I can hold onto while everything is so bleak. The speed of the plummet increasing just about diminishing the thought of a savior that could swoop in and end this horrid feeling of abandonment. If only I could save myself...

Suddenly a light flares. Letting out a yell my eyes snap open and stare at the ceiling trying to remove the memory like nightmare from my mind. Yet as each second passes I continuously reencounter the sensation of endlessly falling.

Glancing at my phone and I notice my alarm was not set correctly and I needed to be at work soon. Moving quick I get ready and make a small breakfast that I could eat on the move. Walking out the door and the apartment building I still feel dazed from the sensations lingering from the dream.

The walk to work seemed to pass by much quicker. These memory like dreams have been occurring for a few months. The only time I can recall things from childhood are during those nights.

About a year ago I was found passed out on some random road. No family member or friend came forward to 'claim' me so I found myself getting set up with my current job and living situation.

A loud noise halted my steps into the building and looked up to see someone looked to be falling from the sky. It was an astounding speed they were traveling toward the ground.

A few others gasped and many flocked to create a group to watch the scene. Most pulling out their phones either to call in the emergency or recording. Scoffing I roll my eyes at the people filming.

Then it went quiet as the clear image of the man came into view. My eyes zero in that he was swinging some object around that slowed his descent. It was amazing that as sharp of a descent the landing was graceful. Yet as quick as he appeared it was almost immediately the strange man moves to leap away but stopped when we locked eyes. I glance at the group of strangers that gathered.

"Solveig." He must notice someone in this crowd. Nice for him. I navigate my way through the crowd that was starting to murmur presumably about the man. I frequently hear something about 'Thor' and 'Avengers.' "Wait! Solveig!"

Taking another glance at my phone my pace is just short of a run. Being grateful that the owner of the bakery won't be upset that I am running late. I try not to take advantage of her generous personality. I do not know what I'd be doing or where I'd be without the help of Mrs. Laia. She's an elderly women that took care of me after she found me about a year ago. A short distance from work my arm is grabbed. "Solveig, many of us have been looking for you. Fandral has been very worried about how long it has been since any of us have set eyes upon you. Even Heimdall has not had-"

"I'm sorry. I'm in a bit of a rush and need to get to work." I take a step back from the tall, intimidating man.

"It's time for us to take you home." Shaking my head I think of how far I could run before he stopped me again. "Please. Believe me. We all have missed you."

"I have no clue what you are talking about. I have to get to work." I start to walk again and he walks along instead of attempting to stop me.

"What happened to you? How did you reach Midgard?"

"Midgard?"

"Earth. Do you not remember life on Asgard?" We reach the front of the shop and I turn toward him as I shake my head numbly as flashes of a city take my breath.

Finally I question him, "How do you know me? Who are you?"

"Solveig, it's me. Thor. We have been friends since-."

"Stop a second." I wave my hand up to halt his explanation. "Please, just let me go to work and I promise we can talk after." He looked doubtful but accepts the bargain with a nod.

"May I wait inside the shop till you are finished with your work?"

Unsure I shift my weight from each foot till I notice the hope in his eyes. "Okay, just take a seat by the window and I bring over something for you to eat and drink while I work." We step in and I gesture to a table that tends to go unnoticed by many patrons. Luckily it seems like I still got here before the morning rush.

"Who is that handsome young man, Alsie?" Mrs. Laia has a mischievous grin that makes me fiddle with the cup I grabbed for Thor. "Is he the reason my very punctual employee is late?"

"His name is Thor. I don't know much but it's not the reason you are implying." I put down the cup and plate I made. Setting my eyes upon hers. "Mrs. Laia, he might have answers to all of my questions. He seems to know who I am and where I came from. Together maybe we could even figure out what happened."

Mrs. Laia puts her hand on my shoulder and her grin turns soft, a worried look. "Alsie. I know you have been searching for answers. Maybe this man will be able to answer some but know that it will be okay if he is wrong. I will be here for you." She gives me a light hug then pushes me toward Thor. "Now go over and talk. It's alright if you sit with him for a bit. I don't think it will be busy today and I can take care of any sort of rush."

"I hope you like blueberry muffins." Our hands touch as I put the plate down. Another series of flashes pass my mind. Two children, a blonde boy and a dark-haired girl, running after each other. The two children playing around a tree. Images of them growing and their friendship changing. "Oh. That's something." I slightly fall to sit across Thor. My hand clasps around his own. "Thor, what happened?"

"I was hoping you might have some answers about that." He squeezes my hand lightly. "Was it Loki?"

"No. I don't remember who it was that did this to me but I know that it was not Loki. As much mischief he causes I know he wouldn't have done this. Trust me."

"I do. First, we go home and find a way to complete the emergence of your memories then we can find who dared to-."

"Thor, I can't leave. Not yet." I sit back and think over these lives colliding. "Mrs. Laia needs me here. She won't let her family know just how much help she needs."

"I offer my own help."

"That would be lovely Thor. I'm sure Mrs. Laia will be glad for it." I think it over for a moment. "So you'll stay with me?"

"I will be with you as long as you'll have me. I will follow you anywhere."

"Soon we will return home." Then after a pause I add on. "This place on Midgard could become a second home. As long as we are together, everything will turn out all right."

"Yes, together."
