I don't remember much of last nights events. We where about to hit the pole, but then we just slipped into darkness. And since then my mind's been a bit fuzzy. I slowly open my eyes (was I sleeping?) trying to adjust to the brightness.
I stare ahead of me through the window and see nothing but blue, blue water, an ocean. How is a truck driving on water? Oh...magic. We finally left. We're finally free. That thoughts makes me smile. I'M FREE!
I giggle like a maniac, which alerts Grover that I've woken up.
"Good morning Leo, or should I say good afternoon, how're you feeling?" He asks. I raise my head a bit, only to realise it was rested on Nico's shoulder. Nico, who's still sleeping, jolts back up, only to rest head against the window and doze off again."G'morning! Well, I'm fine, I guess" I yawn out. Grover chuckles.
"Well, it's already noon now, you missed the part when we were gonna enter the Atlantic. Nico was screaming, it was so much fun"
"How long has Nico been asleep?"
"An hour or so after we entered, we'll reach London in a few hours"
"Wasn't the train leaving this morning?"
"Delayed, because of two demigods"It takes me awhile to realise that Grover meant me and Nico. Grover tells me about the events that happened before I woke up. Surprisingly Nico was quite the talker. Asking about the Wizardry world. Grover explained to me as well. First we would have to go get our supplies via a place called 'The Leacky Cauldron'. All these words only remind me of bacon, which are now making me hungry. Because on queue, my stomach strays growling loudly.
"Hungry, eh?" Grover asks. I nod, Grover then turns the radio (I want food for my stomach not my ears). He keeps fiddling with the switches when suddenly I hear creaking, of rusted metal. That sound somehow reminds me of my past. I used to love machines, how they sound, how they work. But then I remember the fire...
Almost instantly the dashboard opens up, and a plate of hot chicken-wings sits in my lap. It makes a few other little squeaks and then closes. I simply gawk, this make Grover laugh.
"Yo!" I say. "This magic business is cool, dude"
"Oh! That wasn't magic" Grover says.
"What?"
"It's the work of the Hephaestus cabin. Children of the blacksmith god. Well technically all the material that the truck is made from, celestial bronze, Is magic but the car itself can't be made by magic, you need a mechanic for that. And the Hephaestus guys are the greatest in the planet"Hephaestus? God of blacksmiths? Machines? I'm about to say something when I'm cut of by a very loud yawn.
"Are we they yet?" Nico yawns out. His eyes fall on the plate sitting on my lap. "Ooh! Chicken wings"
I swat his hand away. "Mine!""We're almost gonna reach the harbour guys! Buckle up" Grover says, putting in his seatbelt. I buckle mine and start eating.
From across the blue, the harbour becomes visible, a few boats pass us, I thought that they would faint or freak out when they see this truck driving on water, but they didn't, more of, they didn't even notice us. Which was cool since my whole face was cover in barbecue sauce.
"You eat like a hog" Nico comments.
"Well we are going to Hogwarts, so it's best I maintain my appetite"
"Hold on! We're going to hit ground"We are now minutes away from the harbour. Grover pulled up the gear. And the truck suddenly jolts and bounces up. In the mean time my face smashes in the plate of hot smoking wings, and Im covered in grease and sauce. Nico laughs.
