When you finally arrived at your job, it had somehow started to rain heavily. You groaned, thinking, "Great. You get kidnapped and held captive for almost a week by your crazy best friend and now when you're finally free, Mother nature decides that it would be a perfect day it ruin your hair and wet up your outfit." You put aside your petty complaints, knowing that they weren't your main concern right now. It was Caleb.
You rushed in and shook yourself off, panting slightly from running the long way in. Ann was at her front desk as usual. When she looked up at you she gasped, running up and hugging you. You were taken aback by the sudden embrace and you chuckled. "Where in the hell have you been?! I've been absolutely worried about you! That patient of yours has been switching from his shy act to his angry act ever since you've been gone and it's been getting worse by the day! He damn near killed one of the fucking doctors!" You snickered at the way she sounded. It was like she was a worried mother, but she was always like that.
"Don't worry. I'm here now. I was just...held up for a while. Today I'm releasing him and he'll be in my hand full time, so you don't have to worry anymore," you reassured her. "You mean he's gonna be living with you or something? That's really fucking brave, (y/n). If I had to do that, I think I would be the one that's insane instead of him." You rolled your eyes and smiled. "Just sign him out and I'll be out of the way." you said with a smile.
After you talked to Ann a bit more about how long you'll be gone and all, you made you way back to Caleb's room. You walked in to see him in a corner in the fetal position. It shattered you to see how broken he was. "Austin...darling, is that you?" you said sweetly. He looked over at you and gasped, running and hugging you tightly. "(y/n)!" he exclaimed. Once again, you were taken aback by the sudden embrace and you giggled as you hugged him back tight.
"Where h-have you b-been? I was s-scared!" he whimpered out.
You could hear the pain in his voice and you frowned. "I was gone for a while, but I'm back now. I have to talk to you though." He looked up at you anxiously before you led him to sit down on the bed. Once you told him the big news, he instantly switched into a new personality. It was his sophisticated side, Clark. You hadn't seen him in a while but since he was pretty easy going and well-behaved, you were able to tell him the news with ease. He didn't really show enthusiasm in the normal kind of way, due to the fact that it was hard for that side to show emotion. Although, you knew that he was excited because he showed happiness in his own special way.
You waited outside his room and hummed, checking the time. "9:32 pm. He's taking a pretty long time." You looked outside a nearby window and saw that it didn't look like the rain was stopping anytime soon. You hoped that he would get out soon so the drive back home wouldn't be so bad. He finally walked out of the room, a small bag of clothes in hand. "You ready to go?" he asked. You looked at him and smirked a bit. "I should be asking you that. I'm ready when you are."
He gently took your hand and held it tight. You both looked into each other's eyes. The same look of a wonder and mystery was in his eyes and nothing changed about him. He still had a story to tell, although it was already told.
After a long drive home, you pulled into the driveway and turned off the car. You both had gotten out of the car and you grabbed his things, but as you were about to head in, you noticed that he was looking at you nervously. You could tell in his eyes that he was scared to be back in a normal house after so long. You walked over and took his hand, reassuring him that he's safe now and that he's always been safe with you. He gripped your hand tightly and nodded slightly.
