April looked at her foot to see what had tripped her as the flesh eating monster excitedly dragged itself across the porch to her.
Oh shit this couldn't be worse. April thought to herself.
A small mangy chihuahua was growling and tugging at her pants, trying to get a tasty nip at her ankles. The crazed flesh eater stood before her and was about to pounce on her, but Seth intervened.
"Hey over here, Shit-face!" He called.
April rolled away as the walker... once his Dad.. spun to look at him and trilled at him with an excited look on it's face. It's dead milky eyes were animal, but glinted with hunger. April stood up and flung the dead chihuahua into the wall, as she did blood burst out of it's open side and April cringed with disgust. It shot up with a newfound burst of energy, and darted to her leg once again. April raised her foot and slammed down on the disgusting little beast. Without sparing the little yipping brute a second glance she turned to where Seth was tangoing with the freshly turned biter. He was avoiding it and going around the table with it chasing after it like you would in duck duck goose. A crazy rush of adrenaline came to April. She sprinted towards the zombie and slammed into it, successfully knocking over, and without sparing a second, Seth slammed his knife into it's eye.
"Hey you know what, do you have any masks in your car?" Seth asked.
"Uh yeah, two."
"We should wear them... if that wound spurted, it would have sprayed all over our face and into our mouths."
April felt stupid for not thinking about that earlier, they could easily get infected if some blood were to spray into their mouths... or eyes.
"Actually I have some shooting glasses to protect our eyes too, I'll get both." She spun to dash to her car. Seth was shocked when he looked at his creepy little dog. It was crushed into the wooden floor boards of the white porch, it's upper half was still moving wildly and yipping like a maniac. Just as he was about to walk over to it and put it out of it's misery, the damn thing ripped it's upper torso off of the porch and darted towards him on two legs. Seth jumped back, upon seeing what was happening, April grabbed what they needed and rushed back. She pounded up the steps and stomped on the little bastards head. It's skull made a small popping sound underneath the soul of her shoe and they both grimaced. She lifted her foot and shook off the remnants of the dog.
"Um... sorry... I know that was your dog.." April started, but she didn't feel too bad because of her deep hate for chihuahuas.
"No! No, no! It's fine! I hated that little mutt anyway. I don't know why my mom kept that little demon around it was a horrible excuse of a dog... inside and out." He laughed.
April couldn't help but crack a smile and giggle.
They looked around, worried that their loud interaction would have attracted some more dangerous cannibal corpses.
"Ready for round two?" Seth said readying himself at the door.
In response, April prepared herself by putting her gear on as Seth had and raised her knife.
"Ready."
The second decaying monster was bigger than the first, it looked very similar to Seth, except a little older and a lot more dead. It opened and closed it's large mouth, it's teeth grinding against each other making a silent screech. It reached out for her, trying to grasp onto her shoulders with it's cold fingers.
A loud snarl made its way out of it's mouth. She flicked out her foot with the most powerful kick she could sum and pushed the creepy abomination back. It tumbled rearward but didn't fall. Before it could right itself, Seth kicked out it's legs and it fell, but he somewhat lost his footing in the process and the zombie reached out to grab him. In reaction April reared up her knife and jammed it into it's skull with all of the force she could muster.
