Aliyah held tightly onto Siel as the angel ran through the castle. She tried contacting Fang through her telepathy. When she got no response, her worry only continued to grow.
"He's not answering." She said.
"Fang! Fang!" Siel shouted as he left the castle and went into the forest.
Aliyah's ears twitched as she heard something in the distance. It sounded horribly like a pained whimper. She immediately pointed and said, "I hear him! He's that way!"
Siel turned and ran the way she pointed. The path led them into a forest clearing, where a river ran through. In the middle was the familiar form of the white wolf. Fang was lying on the ground, with a dagger in his side staining his white fur red.
"Fang!" Siel said, putting Aliyah down. The princess immediately ran over to the wolf's side. He was still breathing, but it was more ragged. He was alive, but only just.
Fang weakly opened his eyes and wheezed, "It's...a trap..."
No sooner were the words out of Fang's mouth than Aliyah was suddenly pulled away from Siel with a cry. Siel wheeled to her, shouting, "ALIYAH!"
From above them came the sound of menacing laughter. A figure slowly descended, Aliyah in its arms and a dagger to her throat, "I didn't think luring her out here would work. Thought you would've made her stay behind."
"Let her go." Siel simply said, summoning his crook.
"Sorry, angel, but we've got plans for the Princess. We just need to get rid of a few...obstacles." The person laughed, "Who should we kill first, Princess, your dog or your angel?"
Aliyah struggled in his grip, "No! Let me go!"
"Now now, Princess, if you keep struggling, I'll drop you. And we all know, you can't swim!" He laughed as he forced her to look down at the river.
Siel pointed his crook at this new foe, "As a Guardian of the Order of Angels founded by Archangel Raphael, I give you the last chance to let her go or else I will do my duty and defend her at all costs."
"Really? Even if it means losing her familiar?" A voice asked from behind Siel as Fang let out a painful whimper.
"Who are you?" Siel asked, wheeling around.
"Just some people aiming for one thing." The one behind Siel said, grabbing Fang by the head. As she did, Aliyah noticed a symbol in the shape of a pentagram carved into the back of her hand, "The Angel of Darkness."
With a quick motion, she snapped Fang's neck. Aliyah's eyes widened as the one holding her whispered in her ear.
"Looks like....your contract has ended." He laughed as chains appeared around Fang and Aliyah in a shadowy form.
Siel only looked before his grip tightened on his crook.
Immediately followed by an enraged yell as he charged at the one holding Aliyah. Aliyah let out a painful scream as the chains broke before vanishing. Between this and Siel's attack, the demon let Aliyah go, causing her to fall into the river.
"You idiot!" The one who killed Fang yelled. Siel grabbed Aliyah and began firing bursts of golden light at the one who dropped her.
The demon dodged as he landed next to his partner, who glowered at him, "We did what we came for."
"We were supposed to bring her with us after killing the dog!" The other yelled, kicking Fang's body.
"How was I supposed to know she would scream in my ear?!" The two suddenly vanished as they continued bickering.
