CHAPTER SIX ,
narrative ( monday )

**warning: this chapter is going to be pretty intense and will include the use of the n-word from non-black people as well as racist encounters. i was pretty hesitant about including this in my story but then i realized that this is the reality for many, including myself and it should be talked about even if it's in the form of a fanfiction. i want to keep this story as light hearted as possible but i cannot completely scrap out the fact that racism exist since it's a major part of the plot. i understand the subject can be controversial and sensitive to many so to make sure everyone is comfortable i will be bleeping it out <3

"alright that's going to be it for today guys get a drink of water and make sure you go home and rehearse this section of the dance. next practice we're gonna be adding more on" zara announced to the group of girls in front of her as she clasped her hands, her ponytail swaying as she spun around to face them.

and with that the dance team spread out within the dance room which walls were mostly covered in spotless full body mirrors.

zara, much like the rest of the girls, and terin (the only male member on the dance team), went straight to her bag to get a drink of water.

the dance her and her co-captian put together for their up and coming pep rally was way more advance than any of the other dances the team has done. it took a very long time for the members, who were mostly freshman this year, to get pass the first 30 seconds.

as zara was squatted down, checking the notifications on her phone the group of fourteen girls behind her started ouing and whispering amongst themselves.

zara shrugged it off until terin, her co-captian and one of her bestfriends, came beside her and said, "your lil boo thang is waiting for you". a smirk was plastered on his face as he raised his eyebrow.

she felt her cheeks turn hot before she turned around to see vinnie leaned up against the doorway. now it made sense why all the girls were acting all crazy.

vinnie was one of the most popular boys at their school. if his good looks, toned body, and charming smile wasn't enough to turn the heads of every lady he walked by then the fact that he was tiktok famous definitely did.

she was lucky most kids at school were supportive of their relationship and didn't try to tear it apart. of course jealously and hate was inescapable but it wasn't unbearable... for the most part.

a lot of people liked zara. she was smart, true, and extremely sweet. plus she was one of the only black girls in her school, which made her a main target to become "the token black girl". she wasn't a big fan of the title but she rather people refer to her as such then all the nasty racist names a few people titled her as.

zara smiled at terin before they both stood up in sync. she threw her book bag strap over her shoulder, "i'll see you tomorrow" she said to terin sweetly before turning around to leave.

"get some" he yelled after her leading zara to stick her tongue out at him playfully.

"hey beautiful" vinnie greeted her as she finally got in a decent distance to him. zara smiled as she looked over the boy. he was still dressed in his baseball uniform which she absolutely adored him in.

"hey vin" she responded before getting on her tippy toes to give the boy a quick peck on the lips which caused the remaining girls in the room to "aw".

"ready to go?" vinnie asked, his cheeks slightly pink. zara nodded, "i'm exhausted", she pouted.

vinnie couldn't help but go soft every time he saw the girl.  he knew he hadn't been the best to her but he was ready to change. he loved her too much and the last thing he wanted to do was lose her.
