CHAPTER FIFTEEN,
narrative ( sunday )"vinnie stoppp" zara whined as she covered her face with her hands leading vinnie to laugh. "come onn just smile and pretend like you like me". he put his arm around her, while filming with his other hand. he got a lot of pleasure out of bugging the girl.
zara groaned before giving the camera an overdramatized sarcastic smile, "now come on we still have so much to pick up for you". she took his hand and dragged him out of the aeropostale being that there were no sales and zara insisted the boy shouldn't pay full price on an item he didn't truly want.
vinnie laughed as he watched over the video, "you look so cute here". although she didn't want to mind him any business, zara couldn't help but want to see the video. i guess it was the leo in her.
"can i see?" she asked. vinnie smiled and held his phone down so she could see it. he had a good eight inches of height on her.
"ew vinnie that's gross delete it right now" she whined once more. she was getting hangry. the two had been running around the mall together since two pm trying to pick up necessities for vinnie and they had not stopped at the food court once. it was currently seven, nearly eight.
"nope, i think you look beautiful" vinnie said as he posted the video onto his snapchat story. "i strongly dislike you" zara stated firmly as she adjusted all the bags in her hand, trying not to blush at the compliment
vinnie took notice of her mannerism and couldn't help but laugh once more. whenever she was hangry or annoyed by him she would always act all big and tough as if she didn't care but even that she had a hard time doing because she always cared too much.
vinnie stuffed his phone into his jeans pocket before coming up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. he kissed the top of zara's head before whispering into her ear, "you can go pick up the food i ordered you i have to go handle something"
zara turned around to face him as he took all the bags out of her hands, "you ordered me food?" she asked
"of course i did, check your phone i sent you the order number" vin smiled. zara did as he said and clicked on the message. he ordered from her favorite restaurant and not only that, but he got her order down perfectly to the t.
"thanks vinnie", she smiled as she looked back up at him. "of course, i'll meet you in the food court in a little" he winked before turning in the opposite direction.
zara smiled happily to herself before turning to walk to the food court. today was the first day things were at least a bit normal between the two again, and that really excited her. she missed the old days and she felt as if they were slowly, but surely making a return.
| 30 minutes later |
vinnie made his way into the food court to see zara packing up the remainder of her food. he could tell from a distance that at least half of her chipotle bowl was left. she could never finish the whole thing.
"all done?" he asked as he entered within a speaking distance of her. zara nodded as she put the container back into the bag. "i'm so tired" she sighed before standing up. it was already after 8 and and the pair had an hour drive to endure before reaching back into their town hometown of medina.
living in northwest new york, the closest places to find a good mall was either buffalo, or rochester, which "luckily" for them was both an hour drive away. both cities were also easy places for them to escape racial tensions as well, being that they both were fairly diverse areas.
"do you want me to drive?" vinnie asked as they headed towards the exit at the front of the mall. "that would be amazing" zara sweetly responded while handing him her ucla lanyard holding her car key, house key, and a couple of keychains. two of which where diamond plated butterflies, one pink and one blue. vinnie gifted her with them for their one month.
as they started to approach the exit of the three story mall, zara found herself stopped in front of one of the store fronts. more specifically the pet store/ adoption center.
zara placed both her hands onto the glass as she looked down at the litter of tan point blue merle australian shepherds, her eyes automatically softening. "vinnie look how cute they are" she turned to him, a soft smile plastered on her lips.
"that ones my favorite" she spoke as vinnie came to her side. she was referring to the littlest pup in the litter. whenever she came to the mall he was usually playing with the other puppies, but today he was fast asleep, wrapped in a gray knitted blanket.
"you want it?" vinnie asked while looking down at the girl. her eyes grew wide, filled with happiness. zara could have bought the pup a long time ago. she had the money, but the only problem was she didn't have the time. she was always busy with school, extracurriculars, and volunteering that there wasn't any other space gap for her to raise and train a puppy.
but now that vinnie was staying with her, she would have the time, or at least someone home to watch him. plus she would rather have the joy of sharing a puppy with him.
"can we come back next weekend for him" zara asked. vinnie raised his eyebrow, "you sure he's still gonna be here?" zara nodded before looking back through the glass, "i have a feeling he will be"
