"stella i'm fine i swear" zara tried to convince the girl as she put a spoonful of açaí into her mouth.
stella eyed her. they've been best friends since eighth grade and stella could easily read her like a book. she knew zara wasn't okay and being the person she was she just wanted to make her feel better.
"you don't have to lie to me, i know you're not okay and that's totally fine" stella said as she laid her chin in her hands. her elbows rested on the oak wood table as she stood, eyeing the brown-skin girl who sat across from her.
zara sighed as she put her plastic spoon down. she laid her hands in her lap as she looked down, fiddling with the silver rings laced around her fingers.
stella cocked her head as she looked at zara. she had no makeup on and was dressed in one of the most bummiest outfits ever. bummy being compared to what the jamaican girl was usually seen wearing.
"i have an idea" the brunette spoke as she popped out of her position. zara looked at her, clearly not entertained.
"i have some makeup in my car and new top i just bought. how about we swap that baggy black hoodie for my top and do a cute little smoky eye and take a photoshoot!" stella suggested excitedly while she looked over her friend.
"no" zara dryly denied. stella groaned and continued to beg her knowing a fun quick photoshoot would help get her mind of things.
"... please please please please-" stella pleaded. "estella we're supposed to be volunteering we don't have time for this" zara cut her off as she hopped off the wooden stool, packing up the remainder of her açaí bowl.
stella checked the time on her apple watch. 3:35pm. "okay but we've been working for 3 hours and we've done everything we need to do. the animals are fed, we groomed the horses and watered the plants"
zara mentally went over their checklist before scoffing and giving in. "fineee but don't do anything too extra"
a wide smile grew on stellas face as she took her friends hand. "can't promise anythingg"
