I know, I'm back. After what, six months? I'm sorry. I didn't feel good about my writing but today I took a detour from reading johnlock fanfics to reread my own, and the comments really gave me a boost of confidence. Thank you guys. Please comment and vote so actually have the confidence to write ;)

Sophie Foster was a strong, independent woman. She was at the top of her class. She did her own laundry.

And she most definitely wasn't going to let some stupid invisible string uproot her entire life.

Everyone's been told the legend of the red string, an invisible crimson thread tied on the pinky, connecting soulmates together. How when they met, the string would become visible to one of them. How life was going to be better and brighter than before.

What a lie.

Her mother constantly nagged her about pursuing the string, to find her "one true love."

That wasn't going to happen. Sophie didn't have a high opinion of men, to say the least.

They were stinky and hairy and rude and just downright nasty. No way was some stupid string binding her to one of them.

She already decided. The moment that she finished college she would get her own apartment and live there, making her own money and living her life the way she wanted it. It was going to be amazing.

Leaping out of bed, she made her way to the mirror squished in a tight corner, pushing her strands of golden hair out of her face. Checking her reflection, she quickly changed and grabbed her backpack off the hook. As she looked at the clock, she groaned. Here it comes.

Three.

Two.

One.

"Ringggggg."

Scowling, she grabbed her phone off the table and clicked the green button, knowing exactly who it was and what they were about to say.

"Hi, mom."

"Hello Sophie, are you ready to go to your class? Make sure you pay attention and get good grades, okay? And make sure you eat! I sent over some leftovers with your cousin, make sure to pick them up," Blabbed Emma.

"And you know, Sophie, today's a great day to start looking for your special someone, hm?"

And there it was. Sophie inwardly groaned.

"Mom, I told you already, it's not going to happen," she muttered through gritted teeth.

"Okay, okay, now go to your class, it must be getting late, I don't want to distract you from your studies! Make sure you eat, or I'll send your dad after you with a triple layer burrito. "

"Oh goodness, that is your dad now," Emma spoke as ringing came from the other side. Sophie could make out the shuffling of her mother's oversized feet.

"Okay, sweetie, I have to hang up now. Bye!"

"Bye."

Sophie sighed as she tapped the red button on her phone, relieved that her mother's useless rambling had come to a stop. She quickly chucked her phone into the endless abyss that was her backpack and flung open the flimsy wooden door, silently hoping that her mother's unneeded desire to call her was quenched. She speedwalked to through the halls, flying down the countless flights of stairs as she checked her watch, smiling in spite of herself as she glanced at her watch.

An entire half an hour to spare!

Making her way through the large campus doors, she burst through them like the main character of a musical, and stood there, taking in the view.
