I know it's been a really long time, and I'm really sorry.

"Please, please, PLEASE open my present, Sophie," Keefe whined, latching onto Sophie's forearm. "PLEASE."

"Keefe, not now."

"Please."

"NO."

Sophie rolled her eyes. "Keefe, I made an exception with the cookies. I let you off the hook after you ate the entire pan.

"That wasn't me, I swear!"

"Oh sure, I bet Iggy ate the cookies."

"That's why his farts where more toxic than usual!"

"Hey mom!" Sophie shouted in the direction of the kitchen. "Are you sure you didn't mix the flour up with something else that also happens to be white and powdery?"

Edaline's laugh could be heard from the kitchen as Keefe feigned hurt, swooning.

"Sophie, that's not nice." Keefe pouted and wiped away a nonexistent tear.

She sighed and flicked his nose. "Maybe... maybe if you're extra good for the rest of the evening, I'll open it a little early. Maybe. Don't get your hopes up."

"Yay!"

"Okay Sophie, it's time. " Keefe said dramatically prancing over with a sloppily wrapped present. There was excitement in his eyes. Sophie gave him a look and began to carefully peel off the tape in order to save the wrapping paper.

"Oh come on, Sophie, that's no fun, just rip it open!"

Sophie shot him a mischievous grin and tore open the present like an animal, sending wrapping paper flying.

And there the gift was, a beautifully painted portrait of her and Keefe, smiling at each other. Sophie was in shock. When she got over it, she pulled him in for a hug.

"Thank you, you dork."

Keefe squealed and danced around the living room. He grabbed Sophie's hands and pulled her up, twirling her around. They giggled like children, and the twinkle was evident in Sophie's eyes.

She was...

Happy.

And when they stopped twirling, Keefe's smirking face met her eyes and Sophie looked back at him in confusion, as if asking him. He tilted his head upward and there its was...

Mistletoe.

Sophie blushed and her heart sped up and began to thump loud enough to hear as Keefe leaned in and-

"HI SOPHIE. HI KEEFE. I'M BACK FROM WORK." Grady's nervously disapproving voice boomed.

They scrambled apart at the speed of light, staying five feet apart.

."Daaaadddddddd." Sophie complained, shooting a shy smile at Keefe.
