Hi guys. I'm back and currently writing this at two am. This is my tenth chapter holy cow and this hot mess has 2.7k reads. Thank uuuuu
This chapter is dedicated to my best friend hannah. Thanks for hating teal with me. People reading this named hannah; i love u too <3
Also i swear this is sokeefe the beginning was physically hard to write
Sophie could not believe how slow math class could go. The clock seemed to go backward every time she glanced at it; time frozen in the giant ice cube that was boredom. Math class was like that; You feel like you've aged twenty years before the sweet sweet sound of the bell pierces the air, and the sound of rustling papers and backpack zippers overlap each other in harmony. Ah, how she wished for that moment right then and there. She faintly remembered her math teacher telling her to pay close attention, but,
She'd rather smash her head in an easy bake oven.
Besides, she'd already learned everything she needed to know in AP calculus. She'd spammed Khan Academy over the summer and rammed everything into her brain. It wasn't too hard with a photographic memory, and she had millions of Khan Academy points because of it. Why? Because Sophie Foster is a giant nerd.
Besides, there was something better to focus on. Someone better to focus on.
Fitz Vacker.
Sophie wasn't the type to fall for boys. Any boys. They simply did not have anything that interested her. Most boys at her school didn't even know their multiplication tables. Someone really needed to get that fixed. And while they're at it, they should teach them what deoderant is.
But there was something about him.
His wavy chocolate hair, his impeccable jawline, which was by far the only angle Sophie wanted to measure. He was perfect. He knew his multiplication tables.
Ugh, and those teal eyes, Sophie would gladly drown in them. They shone like gems in the sunlight, like an ocean in the Caribbean. She couldn't help but stare.
And then the bell rang, signalling the end of the class that Sophie had waited so long for. She kept her eyes on him as she shoved her binder in her backpack, eyes tracing his movements. Sophie's brain was screaming at her to stop, that she has better things to do then pine over the absolute unachievable. She wanted to listen to the voice of reason. But her heart betrayed her. Her eyes stayed glued to him.
She knew she was setting herself up for failure, for heartbreak. Sophie Foster hated losing. She feared failure.
Especially since Fitz was dating one of her best friends, Linh Song, the prettiest girl in school.
She had to see them at their lunch table every day, holding hands and kissing cheeks an all the other mushy lovey things that made her want to barf. But her heart still twisted into knots when she saw them.
She prayed that this would pass. That someone would save her from herself. But for now, she had to ride it out. Except this was an ocean storm, and she was on a broken raft.
Sophie felt guilty. Linh was so sweet, it was almost sickly. Sometimes she didn't know why Linh had befriended her. She was the queen of nerds, the full package. Marching band, AP classes, glasses. And Linh was, well, her. She was constantly surrounded by her endless group of friends. Group was a massive understatement. It was more of a mass, a cult if you will. She was so so kind and beautiful, it made Sophie regret her sarcastic remarks and made her feel ashamed about her belly flab.
