Summer 1987

"Honestly, Marianna this is no big deal," you were talking to your best friend. It was the summer before the encounter with Pennywise when life seemed a little more normal. Your mom had arranged with Marianna's mom for her to come down for the summer, meet your friends, get the feel of Derry.

Your mom grew up in Old Town, Maine. That is where your mother met the mom of Marianna Mayfield. They grew up as best friends so, obviously, their daughters became best friends growing up too. You and Marianna didn't always see each other, but when you did you normally spent summers together.

Marianna and you were sometimes totally opposites of each other, like magnets you attracted. She was always shy and sweet while you were very outgoing and could be very bitter. She got anxious with the small things, you were just rolling with the punches.

"Y/N this is a big deal!" She let out an audible sigh as she plopped down onto her bed. "Y/N you have all these cool friends in Derry and I haven't met any of them or even talked to them on the phone! Aren't you nervous for your two worlds to collide?" She giggled at her remark.

"Marianna, my friends are probably not even half as cool as you think they are. We are called the losers club for a reason," you told her with a "duh" tone in your voice.

"Why are you guys called the losers anyways. Tell me about your friend group."

"My friend group? They are amazing. It consists of me, Bill, Stan, Eddie, and Richie. We all have our reasons for being a loser. So I am a loser because mom and dad were hippies, Eddie is a germaphobe and he is abnormally short. Bill stutters, every other word basically, I don't know why that matters but I guess it does. Stan is Jewish amongst a bunch of Christians. Richie doesn't know how to shut his mouth so he's stuck with us." You smiled talking about your friend group it was the one thing that you were so proud of.

"Is it weird being the only girl? I know I would be intimidated."

"I guess at first it was, not anymore. What sucks is the rumors, there is always a new rumor about me sleeping with one of the boys. I haven't even kissed one of them so those are completely untrue." Maybe not completely, you did kiss Stan almost two summers ago but that was on accident. He was kissing your cheek and you went to do the same. Things were a little awkward for you two the rest of the day.

You and Marianna had been talking on the phone for quite sometime when you heard your mothers voice join the call. You had a phone in the kitchen and in your room.

"Hey, Y/N the boys are here. Do you want me to send them up?" She asked.

"Sure, mom. Send them up," You replied. Soon enough you heard trampling up the stairs, no doubt in your mind it was the boys rushing upstairs. "Mari, you have no reason to be afraid of the guys, they are sweethearts. Although, you will have to deal with Richie's cat calling and Stan's grumpy attitude."

"Y/N, I am not grumpy," Stan spoke out when he walked into your room. You could almost hear the frown on his face.

"Yeah right, Stanley. You're almost grouchier than Eddie's mom, that's hard to beat!" Richie yelled.

"Richie, I swear to god if you don't stop talking about my mom," Eddie threatened. You ignored their bickering so you could wrap up your phone call with Marianna. You heard more things about Eddie's mom being thrown around but it was none of your business.

"They are a lot to handle, Mari. I am so excited to introduce you to them!" You squealed. You heard Richie ask if she was hot but you dismissed him with the middle finger.

"They sound like a lot. I can't wait to meet them. I'll see you first thing tomorrow. Bye," Marianna hung up the phone, probably to finish packing.

"So, Y/N, it she hot?" Richie raised an eyebrow at you.

"Oh my god Richie shut the hell up."

Hey guys! So this is a great time to introduce the newest character to my book and the winner of my character contest @mariannagrazer !! This is a flash back so for awhile she will be in most of the flash backs.
