After another tiring day in school, I went home and took my clothes out and changed into something for that stupid double date. Luckily, Kevin wasn't busy and was nice enough to take his time off from his work and go to the double date with me as friends. If not, I would have been the third wheeler. I was looking for a dress when my mom came up.
"What are you looking for, Honey?" My mom asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Something to wear for the double date," I replied, looking through my closet.
"With whom?" My mom questioned, looking at me straight in the eyes.
"Hunt- I mean Kevin," I replied.
Stupid me, I almost said Hunter!
"Who's that?" My mom curiously asked, tilting her head and eyeing me skeptically.
"Uh.. a pizza guy I met last week," I replied, unsure of what to say.
My mom adverted her eyes to my closet and sighed. "You JUST met him last week and you want to go on a date with him?"
"Um... Yeah? I kissed him too," I stammered while glancing away from her.
Oh my gosh- this is so awkward.
"You kissed a guy whom you just met that day?" My mom stared at me in bewilderment.
"Yeah..." I replied awkwardly.
My mom just made an 'o' shape on her mouth.
"Can you help me find a dress?" I asked, changing the subject.
Nodding, she asked, "Of course! What colour?"
"Blue," I replied in a monotone way.
My mom search through my closet as I step aside and began texting Kevin to pick me up in about an hour. I sighed. I wished Hunter hadn't asked me to come with him. I could've just rest on my bed and read more books. My mom took out different types of blue dresses that I had barely worn.
My mom raised her eyebrow and asked if I wanted a dress that is below knee length or above knee length."Above?" I replied, more like a question.
My mom put back all the dresses except for the ones that was above knee length which happens to be only two. She raised both her hands that was holding the dresses and asked for me to pick. I tried out both of them and look in the mirror. One of them is a very dark shade of blue and it's quite sparkly. It's the type of dress that was really short until my mid thigh. It's also really tight until my cleavege is shown.
The other one however, was baby blue and it was strapless and the dress wasn't tight either. It has a cute little bow at the side of the dress and it was just above my knee. I eyed it in astonishment. I've barely worn dresses these days but this dress just suit me perfectly.
"So, this one then?" My mom asked me, smiling.
I nodded and smiled back.
My mom insisted that she do my makeup for me but I refused since I know she's going to do the makeup for me heavy. But I let her do my hair for me. Once both of us were done, I look at the mirror and smiled. My blonde hair was tied in a neat braid and I took out my side fringe to make it look nicer. My makeup was done naturally which only consist of concealer, mascara, eyeliner, lip balm and eyebrow liner. My mom gave me her white hoop earrings for me to wear. I muttered a thank you while wearing it. The doorbell rang signalling that Kevin was here already. I went down with my mom and saw that my dad was smiling at Kevin and probably joking around with him. I love how my dad wasn't like other dad who probably will give them rules on what to do and what not to do.
