Truth Hurts

Chapter 8

I tried to stifle my laughter but failed miserably. I burst out laughing, clutching my stomach.

  "You...you..." I tried saying another word but my laughter kept me from doing so.

  Hunter look at me with a blank stare as if to say 'not funny' but I kept on laughing. A few minutes later, I stop laughing but there was still a giggle escaping my mouth.

  "Thank you Puppy, I really needed that laugh," I said with a huge grin plastered on my face.

  He covered his face by placing both his hands on his face.

   "Urg, this is more embarrasing than the dare," He groaned, his voice muffled by his hands.

   "It's okay Puppy, I am the only one saw what happend anyway," I said patting his shoulder.

   That made Hunter look up quickly. He smiles and open open his mouth to say something until two voices say interupt him.

   "Three including us!" My parents say in unison. "Its okay dear its only three people who saw or heard it," My mom added, chuckling.

  Hunters smile became a frown as he groaned going back to the position he previously were.

  Thirty minutes later, we had reached our destination. Guess where? A mall. Yes, the forty minutes ride is just to go to a mall. We step out of the car and into the mall. My jaw drop when we first enter it. The mall were 8 storey high! This is like the biggest mall I've ever been in. And the 3rd mall I've been in.

   "Alright! Here is what we are we going to do today. Boys buy the girls a present and girls buy the boys a present get it?" My mom said in a cheery voice.

   "Um.. I don't. Why do we have to buy presents? Its not even chrismast! And do we have to buy both girls or boys present or only one?" Hunter questioned, confused.

  "To answer your questions is because I have no plans on what to do today and only one so lets do it," my mom answered in a monotone voice.

   "Hunter your going to buy Kelly a present and Kelly your going to buy Hunter a present. While I, buy my hubby a present and he's going to buy me a present! Got it?" My mom said in a strict tone.

   We all nodded our heads as we separated to buy a present. What would Hunter like? Twenty minutes later, I was still searching and found nothing! That was until I passed by a pet cafe. Ah ha! I went in and saw alot of pets. What kind of pet do Hunter want? I pass by an aisle of rabbits, fishes, bird and many more. But one pet caught my attention! A puppy! A puppy for Hunter! Oh my! I am a genius!

   The puppy was brown in colour was very cute and fluffy! The puppy wag its tail when it saw me admiring it. I scoop it up and saw that it has no name. So I decided to name it 'Hunty'. I guess I am going to adopt him for Hunter.

   I went out of the pet cafe and towards the place where my mom ask everyone to meet when we are done buying presents. Hunty manage to wiggle himself to a position where he could lick my chin. My heart melted at the sight of him. I put him into a box with holes on the top and cover it. Do you want to know why I name this guy 'Hunty'? No? Well too bad you have to hear it anyways so heres why...

  Five years ago...

  "Hunter! Look! This puppy and kitty is so cute!" Eleven year old me shouted to Hunter admiring my neighbours pets in awe.

   "Like me," Hunter said,giving me a toothy grin.

   "Pfft... yeah sure," I replied, rolling my eyes.

   I pet the kitty as it sat closer to me. While Hunter, pet the puppy. There was a silence between us until he broke it.

   "Hey Kelly, you do realise that we don't have nicknames for each other, right?" Hunter said,frowning.

   "Yeah.. so?" I asked,confused.

   "So lets make a nickname for each other then!" He says exitedly.

   We thought for awhile. I advert my eyes to the puppy he was petting as I smirk.

   "I know! I will give you the name puppy!" I said,grinning.

   Hunter scowl at the nickname but the scowl turn into a smirk.

   "And I will give you the name kitty!" He said proudly.

   I huff but smile cheekily.

  "Oh there the both pets are!" A voice from behind says.

   We turn our heads and saw my neighbours.

   "Hello," Both me and Hunter said in unison.

   "Hello dears. Thank you for taking care of my pets. But we got to go to our new house now," The husband said while scooping both the puppy and the kitten in his hands.

  We wave at them as we wave back. I sigh missing the pets presence.

   "Its okay kitty, we can have one when we grow up anyways," Hunter said, calling me by the nickname he made.

   "By the way, puppy, if we do have a kitten and a puppy, what should we name them?" I ask, also calling the nickname I made for him.

  "Uhm.. I know! Lets make a deal! We give a name for one pet without complaining and when we grow up we have to buy the pet we give the name to. Either for you or myself," He says."Me first! Kelty if its a kitten," He continued,smirking.

  "And... Hunty if its a puppy?" I said more like a question.

   "Deal!" He shouted a little bit too loud.

   "Okies deal! Lets go resume what we were playing, yeah?" I said

   He nodded vigorously as he holds my hand and drag me towards the park.

  "There you are! I have been waiting for you!" My mom says.

   I snap back to reality. Can't believe that I'm here already.

   "Where are the boys?" I asked.

   "They will come just one more minute," My mom reassured.

   And true to her words they came on minute later. Dad with a bag on his hand and Hunter with a big box on his hands like mine.

   "Alright now give your presents!" My mom declared.

   I pass the moving box to Hunter as he pass a the box that is not moving to me. We mouth '1,2,3' as we open our presents. Both of our faces held the same expression. We look at each other with grin plastered on our faces.

  I guess a deal is a deal after all.
