the children laughed at the dying bird. it flapped its wings in the road, dancing its way out of life. they must have thought it a celebration because the children just laughed and laughed. one boy picked up the flailing bird and tossed it into the air. it fluttered immediately back to the ground landing with a thud. the bird lay still now and two small children began to cry. the oldest girl told them not to worry, it wasn't suffering. they screamed 'Want the bird to fly!'. the bird lay still, dead and hated.
