Jessie and I got into her car and headed on our way. It seemed like she was driving out of town. The roads got less busy as the night crept on, which wasn't a trait of New York City. When people say it's the city that never sleeps, they mean it. I couldn't tell what part of town we were in but it didn't really matter. I had no idea where she was taking me, but for some unknown reason, I trusted her. She was a complete stranger, very mysterious, and seemed to have a darkness to her so trusting her this soon without knowing her seemed stupid. Realistically, Jessie was the only person I had in this crowded yet lonely city. I wanted to get to know her. She seemed so closed off and private but I wanted to change that.

The ride continued silently. I was lost in my thoughts. I felt the cool night air blowing my hair as we turned down an even darker side street. I couldn't help but glance over at the gorgeous brunette sitting beside me. Even though it was dark, her ocean eyes still managed to glow. I couldn't remember the last time I was that attracted to someone.

"What kind of music do you listen to?" Jessie broke the silence.

"Everything really. What you've been playing is my taste." I replied.

"So, what part of town does your friend live in?" I spoke again.

"It's called Hillside. It's a really nice area." I couldn't help but stare at her mouth when she talked.

I stayed looking at her, zoned out on her piercing eyes and dark hair and the dimple on her right cheek when she smiled.

I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard her voice again "We're almost there."

Only a few more minutes had passed by until we were pulling up to a beautiful house in the middle of nowhere. We parked on the street and headed inside. She must have been close with this person because she walked right in without knocking. The house was even nicer on the inside like a rustic modern theme. We were quickly greeted by a pretty redhead, who seemed too young to have a house like this. She couldn't have been over twenty-five.

The redhead and Jessie shared a few words before I was introduced.

"This is Jules, my best friend. Jules this is Skylar." Jessie gave her friend a look as if they were talking telepathically. I noticed Jules shoot her eyes in the upstairs direction and suddenly Jessie left us to exchange introductions as she gestured that she would be right back. She ran up the stairs leaving me and her best friend alone. Jules offered me a drink to which I complied. She seemed warm and welcoming. I assumed Jessie was specific on who she surrounded herself with considering how closed off Jessie seemed. After the redhead poured me a drink we sat down and exchanged some small talk before Jessie came down.

I couldn't help but watch her walk down the stairs. She was so elegant and smooth. Her legs were long and toned, and her dark hair was flowing over her shoulders. She was very easy on the eyes. She looked up from her feet and our eyes met, I quickly turned my head back to Jules whom I'd obviously zoned out on. I felt my cheeks redden as I realized Jessie caught me checking her out.

Jessie sat down beside me and her redhead friend and apologized for leaving us. The night was creeping on and we all drank and laughed. It was fun. I felt like I was seeing a different side of Jessie. This was her in her element and comfort zone. Seeing her laugh, talk, and joke with her friend was refreshing. She was also loosening up from the alcohol but I wasn't complaining. Jules was very inviting and she seemed to like me which was a relief.

We decided to finish our drinks and leave considering it was now midnight and we still had to drive back. We were a little tipsy but I knew Jessie was fine to drive. We said our goodbyes and headed out the door of the big house.
