"Urrgghh"

This was bad.
Really really bad.

Encre had dealt with wounds before but not like this. He hadn't even moved from the position where he had fallen and he could already feel the pain coursing through his body.

He knew he had to get up, it was his only option. He had to get up and find some help. But even as he slowly began to push on his forearms into an upright position, he knew that he had fucked up.

His entire left leg burned in agony, as if it were being cooked by a camp fire. His eyes blurry and his head aching, Ecnre did his best to focus on his leg.

And he was right. He had indeed messed up. The entire kneecap of his leg was cracked and sticking out of place, blood flowing down in pools. Somehow, just looking at his wound seemed to make it hurt worse.

With tears pooling out of his eyes, nearly blinding him, Encre did his best to keep his screams quiet. He was in vampire territory after all. The wound could probably be smelled by a blood thirsty hunter from miles away.

Remembering his training, Encre knew that the next best thing he could do for himself is pop his leg back into place. It would still be broken and cracked, but at least it would be easier to balance on.

"Ok...ok...ok," with each word he made sure to take a deep breath. Taking off his belt, he placed the hard leather between his teeth. Biting down hard so as to scream.

And with one single swoop, he snapped his leg back into place, the belt muffling his screams. Without meaning too, his eyes began to burn with more oncoming tears. His leg felt as it had been tore in half then pierced back together. His body, already sore enough as it is, felt an overwhelming exhaustion.

Ok...

That really hurt...

Taking a second to rest, so as it not overly exert his leg too much, he tried soothing his senses by listening to the woods around him. He needed a distraction that could take his focus away from the pain. And for a place that belonged to blood sucking beasts, it was still indeed....breath taking.

The smell of rain and pine treats hung in the air, making it feel clean and new. The sound of birds whistling sweet tons around-

Birds

Birds

Oh my god, BIRDIE

~•~

Clinging to the cloth of Rufous's backpack as he walked, Birdie sniffed the air around him, confusing settling in as he realized he did not sence his master. Perking he ears all around, he then noticed the rumbles of rocks and dirt falling down, screams echoing behind it.

Panic overtaking him, he pushed off of Rufous, taking into flight. Luckily for him no other two-legger noticed his leave of absence. If someone had, they would've confused him for a possible vampire, shooting him on sight-

Oooh! A mosquito!

He ate that quickly, the crunchy parts of the bug squishing between his teeth. Once he was done, he got back to work.

It was time to find his friend.

So far the most Encre had managed to do was stop his leg from bleeding, and tie sticks on the sides to prevent any unnecessary wiggling. The only thing left to do was to find some sort of walking stick for his balance.

Each step was like walking on fire, his whole face cringing up in pain. But knowing that the pain would come every time he moved made it even worse. His breath became shaky from the constant need to scream in pain, and his bones were almost brown with how much dirt was smeared on them.

Luckily during the fall his backpack survived, which means he still had some supplies. However, that did put extra weight on his leg. So the only logical thing to do would be to either leave the bag...or take more rest every once in a while

~•~

Ok so...yeah

He was going to take many breaks even if he HAD left the bag. This was so damn painful.

Encre had had enough. He was deprived of all sense of morality and was just ready to murder the one who harmed him.

But it was the cliff that technically harmed him and the cliff is dead so he would basically be beating a dead person to death.

And he wasn't going to do that.

It would be considered rude.

Night had fallen, and the only thing Encre had to sleep in was a sleeping bag with some sort of heating magic.
It had been a very costly item, the sleeping bag...but the king wanted to make sure that his most prized soldier was well taken care of.

There would be no sleeping in these woods tonight though. With the moon full and the dark sky clear, he would have to keep a look out for any predators nearby. He didn't think he could sleep anyway, since the pain from his wound was pumping too much adrenaline into his body. The only thing he could do was use the sleeping bag as a sort of heating blanket for his leg.

Now all he had to do was wait for dawn and-

Snap

Heart dropping, bones sweating, Encre took the only sort of weapon he had (a stick) and quickly hopped into a standing position on his one good leg. His senses were on high alert, especially his hearing.

Crack

He turned to the left, stick raised

Fwoosh

Same thing, but to the right.

But before he could process where the unknown creature had been located, he felt an overcast shadow cover the moonlight above in a swift movement. The...thing...landed on top of him, sending the two of them into a fit of somersaults. His leg screaming at him to stop, Encre began hitting and punching the man on top of him, but all seemed futile as he caught himself being pinned down. This strength was unlike no other.
The creature hung over him with a horrendous expression covering his face. What stook out the most was his long, gleaming fangs.

His bones were as black as the night above them, colorful marks creating swift patterns on his face. A part of the top of his skull floating into nothing, like a black cackling fire.

Encre knew this face.
He knew it.
He had seen in a million times.
In textbooks.
On paintings.
Everywhere.

There was no mistaking it. This man....he...he was....

Fallacy snarled at the monster below him, anger coursing through his royal blood. "What are you doing in my kingdom, you wretched animal!?"
