Teen wolf and the maze runner

(Chapter 10)

Stiles POV

Stiles kept looking at his phone nervously. His eyes would glance at the board in front of the class for a minute before staring at his phone in front of him that is being covered by an open textbook behind it. The pages and content of the book looked like children made fun of the book, with most words being highlighted with distinct colors and little scribbles of notes in the margins of the page. Some students behind Stiles would think he is reviewing his notes all over again or adding more notes on a notebook during the lesson and ignore the striking and distracting colors in the pages. The scribbles of arrows, graphs, lines, and words on the board caused half of the class to look in front with confusion and would look at various places besides the confusing topic of Calculus. Some students are brave enough to sleep through the lesson with a hand supporting their head or with an upright open book as a cover for them.

The teacher in front would usually scold their students for slacking off but with how frequently the students dozing off in his class because of the pressure of academics and other activities piling on them, the teacher turned a blind eye to the lack of concentration and focus on the students listening attentively and continues the lesson for them.

The teacher would usually feel insulted by the arrangement and mood of this kind of class and tries to get their attention but he ignores getting their attention, knowing the occurrence that once he got the attention of his students, they would still fall asleep after a few minutes of getting their attention. He let the handful of awake students enjoy the lesson and continue teaching for the class.

Stiles would let the teacher know he was paying attention by scribbling on his notebook and glancing at the board every now and then but he was scribbling and planning his next move than studying calculus. Minho, who is sitting beside him, peeked at the notebook and Stiles' desk. The letter was between the desk and notebook made Minho look at Stiles worriedly. Minho prompted his elbow on the table and placed his chin on his palm as he looked at Stiles.

"You know, calling them won't hurt and they understood your situation here in Beacon Hills," Minho carelessly mentioned.

"I know, but leaving the kids and them behind while looking for a permanent place to stay and people to take care of some of the kids is unplanned," Stiles sighed and put down his pen, "I was the one who led them but I left them by themselves. I was supposed to protect and be there but I ran away to Beacon Hills. I can't help but feel guilty about it."

"You know Brenda will be annoyed but she won't hate you for what you did and so are the kids," Minho grabbed the pen and drew a small picture of a girl, "they miss you when you suddenly left but I was there before you left, so I did the work for you. You don't have to worry about it. Zia might have made a ruckus already since she was so fond of you, Brenda, and I."

Stiles let out a soft laugh and stared at the drawn picture of a girl in his notebook. He sighed and looked at his cellphone again and typed a message but didn't send the message yet.

"I miss the kids," Stiles softly commented, "How many left and how many went?"
