Hey you lot! Chapter 2: Electric Boogaloo is here, so enjoy it (hopefully). It's a little shorter than normal, but I think the next one will even it out a little.
Doctor's POV
A week later, the Master and I walked to the empty classroom we would be using (and obviously extending) for the lessons.
We arrived a half-hour early to set up the classroom, but already there were a few students hanging around- including Harry."Afternoon, Harry. How are you today?"
"Well, thanks Doctor." He paused for a moment."I wanted to ask you a question, Doctor, but I'm not sure if.."
"Nah, go ahead kid. I don't get shocked or offended that easily anymore."○°Definitely an improvement from 6th, eh?○°
"Well, alright. I'm guessing you've heard of my cousin?"
"Yes, what about him? I know your relationship isn't.. the best.." I lowered my voice a little- privacy and all that."It isn't," the boy grimaced, "this may sound silly, ridiculous even, but he really likes Doctor Who--"
"So you want a picture of you and his favourite one of me to brag about? I can organize that. Free pictures and signings! Now that could be an idea.." I murmered."Thanks, Doctor! You're a really cool guy."
"Hey, no problem, kid. Anyway, if you excuse me, we've got to clean out the room for the lessons."He slid to the left and hung by Ron and Hermione's side.
Within a few minutes we were done, since we got a lot of it done the previous day, and we welcomed in the students
"Hello, everyone! So, you all want to learn self-defense. Well, let me warn you here: This is not going to be easy, and you're not going to be amazing in a few hours. It can take a long time to get good at things like this."
I paused to let the Master continue.
"If any of you use this out of class, unless you absolutely have no other way, you will be in serious trouble, and your parents will be told. We will know. Got that?" Everyone said yes, "Good. This can be dangerous, it can break bones or leave someone permanently paralyzed. If you don't know what that means, it means they can't move by themselves. In class, we'll have safety protections to prevent that, for obvious reasons, but elsewhere won't."We let silence hang in the air for a few moments before we pulled out some training dummies.
"These dummies have different settings," I told the class, "you'll start off on whatever you think you can handle, but nothing higher than 5, for year 3 under, nothing higher that 10 for 5 under and nothing over 8 for the 7th and 6th years, got that? After that they start to hurt, and I don't want you getting into a situation you can't deal with. Level 1 is, of course, the easiest, then it gets harder from there. Now, let's get started."
I performed a basic leg sweep, and they copied with relative ease. Then, I moved onto a karate chop to the neck, and an elbow to the face. Then, all three in quick succession.
"I want you all to pick your difficulty now. The dummies wont use anything extreme so long as you keep the level in the range I mentioned. Sound good?"
"Yes, sir!"
"Alright. 3.. 2.. 1.. Go!"Most of the dummies were 'knocked out' pretty quickly, and I noticed Harry's went down particularly quickly, as they did for the Weasley twins and their friend Lee.
"Alright, good job everyone! Keep practicing until you feel like you've got it, then I'll move onto some more moves. Have fun!"
"If you need help," the Master told the children, "don't be afraid to ask. Unlike Professor Snape, we wont kill you if you get a minor detail wrong," he joked. The two men got along fairly well, which I was but also wasn't expecting, if you know what I mean.
