"Lili! You have a visitor!"

A visitor? For me? The girl pushed it off as a joke. Never in her fourteen years had anyone visited her in the orphanage. Why should anyone do so now?

One of the other girls ran out to her. "Lili! Did you not hear? Someone is here to see you!"

Lili rolled her eyes. "Of course I heard. I'm not falling for the joke. No one ever comes to see me. If there is really a visitor, tell him to come to me."

The younger child looked over Lili's shoulder with widened eyes then suddenly ran off. Lili just shook her head.

"A visitor for me. Yeah right. As if. No one has ever come to see me be-"

"Lili Skywalker?"

The girl swallowed. Until now she hadn't noticed the heavy breathing behind her.

"Lili Skywalker?" repeated the deep voice. She turned slowly.

A strange man wearing a kind of black armour stood behind her, fists on his hips. She swallowed again.

"Who're you?"

"She gets like this sometimes, Sir. A bit rebellious. Are you sure you wouldn't rather see one of the younger children?"

"I'm sure."

"Alright then," the lady conceded. "Shakee! Go tell Miss Skywalker to come here this instant!"

"Yes'm," mumbled a short girl of about ten years old.

It had only been two minutes when the man decided he could wait no longer.

"I will go to her myself," he said.

"That won't be necessary, Sir," began she, but he held up a hand.

"Where would she be?"

The woman shrugged. "The garden, perhaps. She likes it there."

He bowed his head slightly. "Thank you."

He made his way to the garden, ignoring the stares of young children as he walked past.

"... to see me," a voice was saying. "If there is a visitor, tell him to come to me."

He walked through the door. The girl that had been sent with the message looked at him with wide eyes. He motioned for the child to go. She rushed past as if she couldn't wait to be away from him.

The girl he had come for didn't even turn. She shook her head, and the man admired the sunlight on her light brown curls - so similar to her father's. He could feel it. This was the child he was looking for.

"A visitor for me," she was saying scornfully. "Yeah right. As if. No one has ever come to see me be-"

"Lili Skywalker?" he interrupted.

She tensed, but didn't respond.

"Lili Skywalker?" he repeated.

The girl turned around slowly.

He could feel her taking in his appearance, and couldn't help but take in hers. She was nearly a perfect picture of her mother - all but her eyes and hair. Her clothes - such strange clothes! - were all of black, and her hair kept falling in her face on the right.

"Who're you?" she demanded.

"Are you Lili Skywalker?" the strange man asked.

"I am. Who are you?"

"My name," he said slowly, "is not important now. You are to come with me."

"Why?"

The man paused. "You are to come with me," he repeated. "The reason is not important."

She hesitated. "Mrs. Tchachi -"

"Has already been dealt with."

"Okay... c-can I get my stuff first?"

He nodded. "Yes."

She stood and walked inside. He followed. Noticing this, she stopped. "You don't have to follow me, you know."

"I'm going to help you carry your things."

This was her first real hesitation.

"There's no need... there's not much..."

The man insisted, and she looked at the floor.

"Yes, sir."

Her steps quickened. His heavy breathing through that awful mask made her uncomfortable, as did the sound of his footsteps behind her.

She opened the door to a tiny room.

"H-here it is," she muttered.

There wasn't much. A small bed, a decrepit table with a chair that looked like it would fall apart any moment, and a dresser that leaned dangerously to one side made up the few furnishings. He watched the girl kneel to reach under the bed for something.

Seeing that whatever it was seemed to be evading her, he concentrated on the bed. It slowly rose from its place on the floor. Lili snatched a small box from the now-bare floor before it dawned on her. She cried out in surprise and backed away quickly. He carefully let the bed down and lowered his hand.

"How'd you do that?" she cried.

"All will be explained in time," he said. "Pack."

She did as she was told. He couldn't help that notice that however small the box was, it wasn't even half filled by the few things she put in it. The clothes looked much too small to fit a fourteen-year-old girl.

After she had finished, she began to lift the box, but he took it from her.

"Sir, really, I can..." She trailed off. The blank stare from the mask unnerved her.

He said nothing, simply began to walk away. She stood in place.

"Are you coming?"

"Yes, sir. Sorry, Sir."

She was led outside and toward a type of ship.

"We're going to another planet, sir?"

"Yes," he said. "The next galaxy."

She stopped. "The next galaxy?"

"Yes," he replied. "Obi-Wan hid you well."

"Obi-who?"

"All will be explained in time. Come."

"Yes, sir." Nothing but obedience had occurred to her until now. Suddenly she stopped again.

"It is pointless to resist, child."

She swallowed. Could he read her very thoughts? Why try to resist? Surely whatever the strange man had in store for her was better than her lot here. Her feet moved toward the ship again.

Once inside and with the door shut tightly behind them, a silver protocol droid approached.

"Lord Vader," said the robot with a bow, "I see you have the girl."

Lord? Vader? What an odd name.

"Yes," Vader was saying. "You are to take her to her rooms." Here he handed the box to the droid. "Until I tell you otherwise."

"Yes, Lord Vader." The 'bot bowed again and walked away. Lili started to follow.

"Lili." A black-gloved hand was placed on her shoulder. "You're to stay in your rooms until I summon you."

"Yes, sir."

With that, Lili followed the droid down the hall. Vader watched her walk away for a moment or two before disappearing through a door on the left. Soon all would be explained.
