Azriel's POV:
Someone slams their hand on our bench as Ayden and I wait for the Calculus teacher; the asshole is always late and sleepy. I look up to see a very angry looking Scarlett and a resigned Zara behind her, and a note in Scarlett's hand.
"What the fuck is wrong with you," I grumble and glare at her, which she returns with a glare of her own. "What's wrong is that your absolute fucker of a best friend here hid a piece of important evidence from all of us, especially me!"
I turn to Zara for some sort of sane explanation after standing beside her and putting an arm around her, as Ayden has gone full statue mode and Scarlett might as well be steaming from the ears.
Zara sighed and explained, "Yesterday when Ayden dropped Scar back home, she found this note somewhere between their 'incident' and the drop-off."
"Wait what incident? And note? Call me motivation 'cause I'm fucking lost," I said, annoyed. I might've touched a nerve because Scarlett was suddenly red in the face for an entirely different reason than anger.
"Nothing that you need to know," Ayden mumbled and continued, "I hid the note from you because we were having a good time and I didn't want to spoil it. I got it stuck to the bill and it's clearly a threat from the psychopath," he said calmly.
"How is any excuse a good one when this note is practically a death threat against me, against all of us?" Scarlett shook her head. "This psychopath wants to kill us? And why do I not need to know?" I narrowed my eyes at Ayden.
"I was going to tell you today anyway, Scar," Ayden insisted, trying to calm her down. Scarlett huffed and sat on the table, swinging her legs so she could face all of us. "Now what?" she sighed, her question probably directed towards Zara.
"I think we should go through the yearbooks or maybe find out the average age of the person behind all this, it'll be easier that way," Zara suggested.
"I say we convince Margaret to give a few of her office duty shifts to one of us, and that person can sneak in the rest of us."
"Finding the age or gender will be difficult because I researched and found literally nothing; whoever this may be sure is smart as hell," Ayden said as he stood and wrapped his arms around Scarlett while nuzzling his face into her neck. I'm pretty sure he mumbled a compliment that made Scarlett smile.
"I can charm my way into the office; who can resist this," I chimed in, smirking while pointing at myself. Scarlett made a gagging gesture at that and Zara turned to face me. "I can," she teased. "Sure you can, honey," I winked at her.
Scarlett cleared her throat. "Save the flirting when y'all are alone," she scowled. "Anyway, I'm going to head out to the library, you nerds enjoy your unnecessary study of bullshit," she smiled, kissed Ayden softly and left, ignoring the surprised look our teacher and we gave her as he walked in.
I pulled a desk close to mine and gestured at it. "No one sits here anyway," I told Zara and glared at the student whose seat it originally was until he walked away.

Scarlett's POV:
With the last bell as my cue, I basically ran out of class. The teacher was still talking, but Zara promised to meet me at the gym because we hadn't walked home together and had froyo for quite a while now.
I spotted Ayden in the lockers' corridor, looking rather lost. Turns out he was looking for Azriel and I told him he could join Zara and me till he found him.
"So, how did your day go?" Ayden asked once we had reached the gym.
"Boooooring. I'd rather be asleep; Wednesdays are the worst. Also the day I have the least periods with my friends," I sighed. "Hey, where's Zara? She's never late."
He chuckled, "I have nothing to do at home so school is better, I guess. Also, she'll turn up, we left really early. Let's just walk around for a bit? This hallway is practically abandoned.''
"Yeah, you're right." We started walking and a while later we heard a sound from one of the classrooms. I got my pepper spray out and ready and proceeded to the door after sharing a look of mild alarm with Ayden
He kicked the door open, and I raised my pepper spray threateningly. Seeing what I saw next, I wish I'd sprayed the damn thing into my eyes.
"GUYS, IT'S A FUCKING SCHOOL," I bellowed. Zara and Azriel quickly jumped apart, trying to make their messy selves presentable.
"What the fuck," Ayden murmured from beside me and I groaned. "Ugh, meet us outside," I said with a permanently plastered pout of disgust on my face. They mumbled something but I didn't stay long enough to find out what exactly they'd said.
On our way back home, I sulked as I ate my froyo. "So now that you have a boyfriend you're gonna forget about me?"
"Of course not. I was waiting for you but, you know," she trailed off, "I don't know and I do not want to know, don't spoil my dessert experience," I muttered.
Zara smirked, "Do I have to remind you about yesterday-"
Our little back and forth was rudely interrupted as three masked men, and when I say men, I mean grown-ass men, attacked us.
