Nini's POV:

On the uber ride to the airport, I finally decided to text Ricky.

Ricky ignored the shady comment I made about Carter, which makes me laugh. I don't think he wanted to bring any more attention to it. But I really appreciate him, and I'm glad that I already have a friend in LA.

Ricky's POV:

I didn't expect that at all, but I'm not mad about it. I've made a few friends in LA who also work in my studio, but other than that I've been pretty lonely. It's weird living by myself again.

I'm glad I'll have a friend to hang out with every once in a while.

Nini's POV:

As I get in my seat on the plane, my mind starts racing at a million thoughts per second. I feel like I'm going to throw up.

Am I doing the right thing? What if no one accepts me in LA? What if these jobs fall through? What if everyone judges me? What if I fail?

My phone is on airplane mode and the plane is already taking off, so I can't text Kourtney. She's usually my go to when I start feeling anxious.

My fingers are trembling and my stomach feels like it's twisting itself into knots. I bite my lip to avoid crying. I'm sitting at a window seat, so I open the shade and try to focus on the clouds. I can't push the thoughts out of my mind. I push my nails into my palms just slightly, hoping that it would distract me. Nothing worked, until I put in my earbuds and started playing my Spotify playlist.

Music. It's my cure.

Ricky's POV:

I leave my apartment a little bit early to make sure that I'm at the airport on time to pick up Nini. I wonder where her apartment is.

I find a parking spot and go inside to wait for her. After a few minutes of sitting around, I finally see her coming out of a gate. Her face brightens when she sees me. Even from far away, I can tell that she's nervous. After five years, I can't forget how she acts when she's scared, because it broke me in high school, and it still hurts me now.

"Hey, thank you for coming to pick me up." She says, hugging me. I can tell that her fingers are slightly trembling as they brush across my shoulders. "Of course. I know this'll be a good change for you." I say, earnestly. I don't know if it'll help, but I had to try.

Nini's POV:

Somehow, Ricky knew just what to say to get me to almost completely calm down. We start walking to his car. He carried my backpack for me as I pulled my huge suitcase. I put my luggage into the backseat and then got in the passenger seat.
