"Toshi," you mumbled his name again.

Just by seeing him, your tears started to fall and drip unto your cheeks. You stood there, frozen. Your anger and frustration felt heavy, but it was impossible to prolong those feelings with him standing in front of you.

"I'm sorry," he repeated and walked closer to you, "I'm sorry I'm late. I didn't know," he apologized and wrapped his arms around you.

His scent, his warmth and voice - they gave you the same old comfort you longed for. He held you tighter, letting you bury your head on his chest.

You didn't even notice Dan witnessing all this from behind. He was still holding the car door as he watched the two of you reunite. Wakatoshi lowered his head slightly, it was probably a greeting or message of some sort to Dan.

"Let's go home," Wakatoshi spoke as he caressed your hair gently.

You were still sobbing, ruining the makeup you put so much effort on.

"O-okay," you answered, stuttering from your sobs.

"I promise I'll make up for this."

You leaned back and wiped your tears away, looking at him, "Okay," you mumbled.

"I'm sorry for making you cry," he added another apology.

You shook your head, telling him you're okay.

"Toshi-kun," you called him in a shaky voice.

"Let's go home," you finally put up an effort to smile again. The tears you poured out of sadness and frustration were now replaced with joy from finally being with him again.

"Yes," the corners of his lips slightly curved upwards as he spoke.

Ushijima Residence - 1 hour later

The familiar and comforting view of the well-lit living room greeted you as you finally arrived home with your husband, Wakatoshi.

"I'll cook dinner," Wakatoshi offered as you crouched down to remove your shoes.

You looked up and straightened your posture, "It's okay, you're tired as well," you told him, "We can order as usual," you reassured with a voice hinting some sorrow.

"No, let me," he insisted and planted a kiss on your forehead before heading to the kitchen.

Perhaps he was already trying to make up for a while ago.

"Then I'll go take a shower while you cook," you told him as you walked to the hallway leading to your room.

"Okay," he responded from afar, he was already in the kitchen.

You scrolled through your rack of clothes and picked something randomly before going to the bathroom. Meanwhile, Wakatoshi was busy reading a recipe he found online, "5 Recipes for a Romantic Dinner," it said in the title. He wasn't exactly fond of cooking, but he surely tried.

Minutes later, as you dried your hair in the bathroom, a familiar muffled tune played from somewhere in the house. You guessed it was the dining or living room.

Misty - Johnny Mathis

I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree
And I feel like I'm clingin' to a cloud
I can't understand I get misty,
just holding your hand

It was the song that played on your first date, if you remembered correctly, the one where you went on a horse back riding date. You stepped out of the bathroom and hung your towel nearby. With hair still uncombed damp, you went to the living room, only to find it dark and empty.

"Toshi-kun?" you asked amidst the music playing.

You walked to the kitchen, where you finally found him standing near the cupboards. He was preparing something and his tall stature kept you from seeing it. The music must have been coming from here, too.

Walk my way
And a thousand violins begin to play

You looked around the dining area, which was just next to the kitchen. There were some white cloth idling on the table and some unlit candles resting on the sides. He's definitely preparing some kind of fancy dinner and it's making you feel giddy on the inside like a high school girl.

Or it might be the sound of your hello
That music I hear
I get misty whenever you're near

"Toshi-kun," you called him again.

He immediately looked back at you, surprised.

"Wait, I'm not done yet," he told you.

"Done what?"

"You'll see," he smiled at you before getting back on whatever he was working on.

"I'm almost done," he added as you leaned your side on the wall, watching him.

He patted his hands on his apron before pouring the food on the plates nearby. Afterwards, he headed to the dining room and tried arranging the white cloth. Though it remained to be a mess, watching him put an effort like that was making your heart flutter.

Too misty
And too much
Too much in love

Before placing the food on the table, he grabbed some matches from another cabinet and lit the candles. The setting now appeared to be much fancier.

He pulled out a chair and looked back at you, queueing you to take a seat. You gladly followed and approached him. "Thank you," you muttered.

"Wait," he spoke in his usual stern voice.

You fixated your gaze at him as he grabbed the food he made. He placed it on the table gently before he took a seat in front of you.

"Pasta," you said in awe, Wakatoshi didn't usually cook but it was even rarer for him to cook anything else but Japanese food.

"I hope it tastes okay."

"I already like it," you complimented him.

"Itadakimasu!"
