"And we were right outside just like that," JJ said as he pressed himself up against the wall on John B's porch. "And all we hear is just, "Bam! Bam! Bam!'"
He was in the middle of giving Kal, Pope, and Kie a very vivid description of what went down at Lana Grubb's house when John B and he went to go talk to her. Apparently, the two men who chased them on the boat were at Lana Grubb's house. The men had trashed her house as they tried to get information about some information out of her. Apparently John B and JJ witnessed the tail end of it.
"...Knocking paint off the wall, G! From the inside. All right? And I'm just looking at him, like- Wait, first off, look at this shit." JJ said as he walked over to where Pope, Kal, and Kie were all sitting and began shaking his hair out. They watched as white flakes flew out and landed on the floor.
"That's dandruff, disgusting." Kie groaned.
Kal just rolled her eyes at him as John B rested against her chair, watching JJ with a raised brow.
"Okay, thank you," Pope said pushing JJ away,
"Look at all that. All right? That's paint." JJ continued with his whole spiel and did stop shaking his paint-flake-filled hair everywhere. "At that point, I was just, like... I'm waiting for death."
"Oh, okay, so you saw the guys that shot at us, right?" Kal asked him.
"Yeah." JJ nodded.
"Did you get a good description of them?" Pope questioned as he held his head in his hands, deep in thought. "What did they look like?"
"Anything we can bring to a police report?" Kal added.
Kal could tell JJ was overwhelmed with the rapid-fire questioning and seemed like he was struggling to come up with an answer. "Burly," he finally spoke.
"Burly?" Pope asked in disbelief as he tried to process the stupidity of JJ's statement.
"Yeah...You know, like-" JJ tried to elaborate on his statement but Kie cut him off.
"That's not very helpful," She sighed as she rolled her eyes at him.
"Okay, well, no, like the type of guy at my dad's garage." JJ rephrased, slightly annoyed at his friends for not knowing what he meant. "I mean, you guys know he made cargo hides for drug smugglers."
"Yeah. Yes. No, we know." Kie spoke simultaneously as JJ said, "I can tell you with full confidence..."
"What JJ?" Kal asked.
"These boys, these killers..." He leaned against the wall and took a long hit from his blunt. "They're square groupers."
"They're square groupers?" Pope questioned, suddenly very interested in what JJ had to say. "Like narco square grouper? Like Pablo Escobar square grouper?"
"Yeah, man." JJ nodded.
"You guys, not everything is a kingpin movie." Kal rolled her eyes.
"What does this square grouper look like?" Pope asked JJ. "Specifically?"
JJ grew increasingly frustrated with his friends as the conversation continued on. "You weren't there."
"Well, apparently you weren't either!" Pope spoke equally as frustrated with JJ. "You don't know what to look for!"
"Dude!" JJ shook his head as he blurted out "I wasn't taking little mental polaroids the entire time. Man, I was under duress, okay? But, I can tell you..." His voice raised a few octaves. "I can tell you by the way that Ms. Lana was screaming... that these guys are serious, serious hombres, man."
