"God, so help me," I started. "If you show up at my job again, I'll throw your ass out my damn self."
Somehow, Malaysia managed to pop back into my life. When Jordynn walked out three days before my wedding, I knew then that without her, I was doomed. Although I called off our wedding, every now and then I would link what with Malaysia. This is one of those times that I wasn't fucking with her.
Six months passed before I spoke to Jordynn again. I missed her so much. I was headed into work, but I thought about her and took a detour. You can do that when you're the boss. I pulled into Smylie Face, which was Jordynn's boutique. She was remodeling and getting ready for her grand reopening.
"Joshua, I don't like that color!" she yelled. "Why in the hell would you think that was cute?"
"Ms. Carpenter, you asked for edgy; well that's edgy," he responded.
"No, that's ugly as fuck! I want it to pop, true enough, but it looks like the motherfucking rainbow blew up in here! Change that shit now! You got less than seventy-two hours to correct this shit!"
I couldnt help, but laugh. She was just that damn crazy. She turned around looking sexy as hell. She was wearing some blue jeans, a pink Polo, and some pink Red Bottom heels. I gotta give it to my girl, she loves her Red Bottoms. She was beautiful as hell. When she saw me, she didn't really know how to react. She didn't have to though; her eyes said it all. All I could do was smile at her.
She walked towards me, and I opened my arms. Surprisingly, she embraced me. She held me for a long time. When we separated, she had tears in her eyes. I don't blame her though. Seeing her again gave me the same reaction. I missed her so much.
"Hello, beautiful," I said to her.
"What are you doing here?" she asked me.
"I came to see you. Can we talk?"
I didn't know what to say to her though. I mean its been six months. People often say don't hook up with your friends because it messes things up. Bullshit, I know differently. Jordynn and I have a very long sexual history; which led to something more for the both of us; not just one of us.
Part of the reason why I didn't marry Malaysia was because I was so deeply in love with Jordynn. I couldn't bare being without her. Although I did propose to Malaysia to confirm I was done with Jordynn, I was never really done with her.
"Sure," she said, and she led the way to her office.
Her office was different than before. Before it was all white, like a hospital room. Her office was now painted with brown and blue stripes. She even added some paintings and a couch. The couch was brown with blue pillows. Her office was nice.
"So how are you, Jordynn?" I asked her.
"I'm good, Channing," she smiled. "I talked to your mother."
I laughed. "I bet you did. What did she have to say?"
"How you didn't go through with your wedding." I knew she was gone bring that up. Her and my mother were best friends. Much like Jordynn and me, but on steroids. Those two were so close. "Why didn't you go through with the wedding, Channing?" she asked.
"That's why I needed to talk to you, Jordynn."
"What is it, Channing?"
"I needed something, and youre the only one I can get it from."
"And what's that? Sex?" she asked.
I laughed. Even she didn't believe that. "If sex is what I needed, Jordynn, I could have had anybody I wanted."
Her smile disappeared quickly with that statement. "What the fuck do you want, Channing?" she asked; this time angry as hell.
"Look, I'm sorry. For the past six months, something very important have been missing from my life. And no, I don't want sex, J."
"Then what is it? You know I have shit I can be doing right now."
"Baby, why are you so angry with me?" I asked her.
She was about to respond, but her door opened and Nathan walked in. "Hey, baby," he said walking up to her.
"What you doing here, honey?" she smiled. She basically ignored me. She was all smiles again now that Nathan was here. That shit pissed me off. They were talking and laughing like I wasn't even there.
"Ahem," I said clearly aggravated as fuck right now.
"Yeah, we know you're here, Channing," Nathan said, "but who the fuck cares?"
"Nigga, I wasn't even directing that to you. I can give two fucks about your sorry ass," I said standing up.
"Okay, enough, you two!" Jordynn yelled. "Nathan, I'll call you when I get done with Channing. Let's have lunch? Okay?"
"Okay, baby. I love you."
I started laughing. That was bullshit. "Channing, please stop," she asked me.
"I don't like you being friends with him. I wish he would just disappear like he did six months ago," Nathan said.
"I don't like you period," I told him. Then I looked at Jordynn and said, "Look, clearly you wanna be with him, so that's my cue to leave."
"Finally, you get it!" Nathan said. "I dont even know why you came back."
I wanted to respond, but I just left. He wasn't even worth my time. She could talk to me, or not, but I wasn't about to beg her. In the end, she'll realize Nathan doesn't love her—at least not like I do.
