"I cant bear a life without you, Jordynn."
It was three days before my wedding, and I felt like I was losing my soul. Jordynn decided that things would be better for me and Malaysia if she left the picture. "Trust me, this isn't easy for me either, but you're getting married in three days."
"I love Malaysia, but you are my heart and soul, Jordynn. This life doesn't mean shit if you're not with me." I told myself I wouldn't beg her, then I realized I was very much in love with her. "Don't do this to us, Honey Bee."
My heart was breaking. So was hers. That's why she couldn't look at me. "I'm in love with you, Jordynn. I made a mistake. I really don't wanna marry Malaysia."
"What are you saying?" she asked me.
"I love Malaysia, but I only proposed to her because you and Nathan were going strong, and I didn't see you as much anymore."
"So, you propose to her?" I could see the hurt in her eyes. "Do you know why Nathan and I aren't together anymore?"
"No, why?" I asked her.
"Because he did the same thing to me. He asked me to choose, and I told him that our friendship was more important to me than the love I had for him." She started to cry. "I gotta go."
That day replayed repeatedly in my mind. It's been three weeks since I left her and Nathan in her office. I loved her deeply, but I wasn't about to beg her.
I was very busy at work when Carla buzzed me. "Mr. Washington, Jordynn is here. You need to get out here quickly."
"Here I come, Carla." I told her. I wasn't prepared to see Jordynn, but since she was here, I made the best of it. I had a feeling something was wrong though because Carla sounded kinda worried.
I walked out the door, and when I looked up, I could tell something wasn't right. She was worried about something.
"J, what's wrong?" I asked walking towards her. She rolled up her sleeves and revealed two big bruises on her arms. I got very angry. If Nathan did this, his motherfucking ass was mine. "Who did this to you, Jordynn?"
"Nathan. After you left that day, he told me I had to make a choice. You or him. I didn't answer. So yesterday he came to my office and demanded an answer."
"Why haven't you called me, Jordynn?"
She lowered her eyes and cried. "Because I didn't think you cared anymore."
I pulled her close and kissed her. "Baby, I'll always care about you," I held her closely. "I promise you, Jordynn, that motherfucker will pay."
As I headed back into my office, I passed by Carla and I said, "Carla, cancel my meetings for today through Wednesday. Reschedule them for Thursday and Friday. Thank you, Carla." After I got my stuff together, I walked back out to Jordynn. I grabbed her by the hand, "Come on, baby. Lets go home."
On the way back to my place, I called Travis. Travis was a detective at LAPD, and he was Malaysias brother. But he was cool people.
"What's up, nigga?" he answered.
Even though me and Malaysia split up, me and Travis stayed friends. "What's up, my boy? How soon can you meet me at my place?"
"You don't sound good, Channing. What's going on?"
"I need you to do a police report on Jordynn, but you know I can't bring her there."
He knew what type of relationship I had with Jordynn. I was really worried about her. She was extremely quiet since we got in the car. I just glanced over at her, and I noticed she had her shirt buttoned all the way to the top. It was strange to me because in the line of work she chose, we got her breasts done, and she never covered them up if she didn't have to.
"Hold up, Travis," I told him. Jordynn, undo your shirt. She looked at me so terrified. "Travis, man, get to my house. I think this motherfucker hurt Jordynn worse than I thought."
"Alright, I'm on my way," he said and then hung up.
I turned back to Jordynn. I hadn't seen the bruises yet, but I knew they were bad. "Please, undo your shirt, Jordynn," I asked her.
With trembling fingers, she started undoing her buttons. By now all I saw was red and had to pull over. Her chest was covered in dark purple and blue bruises. I had to call Ronald, who was head of my security. "Ron, I'm at the corner of 5th Street and Bonkers. I need you to come drive my car home. Bring Antonio with you."
"I'm sorry," she cried.
I got out and walked around to her side. I couldn't allow her to blame herself for this. "Baby, hush," I told her. "This isn't your fault, and I'm for damn sure not mad at you." I held her close to me.
Once Ron picked us up, it took another twenty minutes to get home. By that time, Travis pulled up. I sent Ronald and Antonio back to the office. I picked Jordynn up out the car and carried her inside. When we got inside, Malaysia was sitting on my couch. How the hell she got in my house? I had no idea, but I'm for damn sure changing my motherfucking locks.
"What the hell you doing here, Lay?" Travis asked her.
"The real question is, what the fuck is that bitch doing here?" she yelled walking towards me.
Travis stepped in front of us. "You got three seconds to walk out that door, or I'll have your black ass arrested." Travis told her. "Take Jordynn to your room, Channing," he then said to me. I was already walking to my room anyways.
I knew it pissed Malaysia off to know her brother took our side, and not hers. He knew her better than anybody else. Once we were alone, I undressed Jordynn down to her underwear. I turned her around and I noticed more bruises on her back. I was so fucking angry with this dude.
"Please, Jordynn, move in with me," I asked her. With her here with me, at least I would know she was safe.
"Channing, I can't," she said.
"You'll be safe here, baby," I told her. I know she was worried about me and the other girls I entertain sometimes.
"But you need your privacy," she said lowering her head.
"What I need is for you to let me protect you, Jordynn. I'll cut every bitch off right now, if it meant you would be safe."
I was serious too. Shes been my best friend since we were nine. There was no other girl—except my mama—that I would put before her. Hell, sometimes I will put my mama on hold for her. So, I know for damn sure I'll cut these hoes off for her. When I needed anybody, she was there. She was my foundation and my backbone. I owe this girl my life. I'll do anything for her.
