A New Chapter: Katherine

Chapter 7

The sight of him being stuck in his car upside down bleeding from his face kept replaying in my head over and over while I sat in the hospital hallway staring at the door waiting for his surgery to finish. I was shaking not knowing what to do. Wades brothers were sitting beside, in complete silence.

When the doctor finally walked out he approached us notifying us that of his condition.

"Everything seems to be good,we will do more tests when he wakes." The doctor said.

We all walked in and saw Wade laying on the bed with tubes connected to his arm. He face had cuts and bruises all over. We all grabbed a seat and watched him all night.

At 1am all his brothers had left but I decided to stay incase he woke up.

"We will come back tomorrow want us to bring you anything?" Henry asked

"Ill be alright. Ill call you if he wakes". I replied smiling at him.

When his brothers left I pulled my seat closer to his bed and held his arm. I couldn't believe how fast things changed. It hurt me to see him that way, seconds later tears rush down my face. I layed my head on his arm and cried as I kept picturing the accident.

3 days had passed and Wade still hadn't woken up and I hadnt left the hospital. I called Ian to bring me a couple of things to change in while I stayed by his side. Wades brothers tried to come everyday after work to check up on him. I slept everyday by his side on the chair holding his hand.

The police had come later that day to give me Wades wallet and phone and advised me that the truck driver was drunk while driving.  It couldn't believe that he had come out without a stingle scratch on him and the Wade was sitting in a hospital bed for 3 days now.

It was 3:00am and I couldn't sleep as usual I turned on movies the hospital had orderes, most of them were 1950s movies. While I sat watching the movie I felt Wades arm move, I immediately turned to face him hoping he was about to wake up. Moments later he opened his eyes and I was so happy to see his big brown eyes again. I held his hand and kissed his forehead. He stayed quiet for a moment looking around the room.

"Katherine?" he said quietly

"Yes hi Wade" I replied sounding so excited.

As I walked toward the door to call the nurse "where are you going?" Wade said as he tried to move his head

"To call the nurse, tell her you woke up" I said still smiling

"Just wait alittle bit come sit" he said pointing at the chair

I walked toward the chair and sat next to him, as we discussed the accident. He smiled and kissed my hand. I couldn't believe how much I cared for him, which was new for me because I  have never cared for men in my life. At 6:00am I called the nurse and she than advised the doctor. They both walked in and started examining Wade and asking him questions. I thought it would be a good time to call his brothers. I grabbed Wades phone from the draw near his bed and called Henry. He sounded so exicted through the phone.

That night Wades brothers had bought him flowers and discussed how much he had missed out on at work.

"Where are mum and dad?" Wade said

"Japan, they call me everyday to check up on you" Louis said.

I decided to go home quickly while his brothers were there to give them some time alone and so I could change. I  grabbed my jacket from the back of Louis's chair and walked toward the door and smiling taping them on the shoulder as I said goodbye. I looked a Wade and smiled and than walked out. I decided to call a taxi to take me to Ians dads place.
