The Painful Kiss of Augustus
Chapter 5
March rolled on as the striking painful shaft of the sun started to intensify as the lingering heat was palpable through the naked eye. The wind started to blow as the humidity crawled throughout my body. Bullets of sweat started to hang on my forehead as I tried to wipe those with my face towel. It was our graduation practice, 2 weeks after this day, we'll be entering the senior highschool. There was a heavy feeling lodged on my chest as I started pondering about life with new environment.
Senior highschool buildings were separated from juniors. Though it was just a wall between the two department, it wasn't easy to trespass. The mirage of proposing a request to the president of our school to just merge the two department and just wreck havoc the wall in between seemed impossible. The acid on my chest could incinerate my heart as I was thinking of the impossibilities. Maybe the guards would let me go in despite the fact that I was already on the other department, no? For years of being a responsible student here, I had befriended with all the guards in here. There were ruses rotating on my head as my eyes lingered somewhere else.
Our professor shouted atop his lungs as his veins beneath the skin of his neck swollen. He was the one who was tasked to organize this upcoming 'Moving Up Ceremony' of our school and he was a bit cramming. Well, it was his last school year in this school since he'll be transferring to his hometown to teach there. While the fourth year students almost brimmed the court, the presence of the maddening heat boasted. Some girls were ranting nonstop as they kept on flapping their hands to freshen up themselves just a little. We spent half of this day practicing and reciting the alma matter of the school.
"August, nakatingin sa 'yo si Frida," Sion surreptitiously nudged me while his lips were disgustingly pointing to Frida who was silently watching us.
"If you're interested with that girl, get her. Hindi 'yong ginagamit mo pa ako para magpapansin sa kanya," Shaking my head, I paid thoroughly my attention to the professor talking on the podium.
"What? Dude, I'm not interested in here—"
"So am I,"
"But she likes you,"
"So? I don't like her."
"Dude, it doesn't matter if you like her. You can bed her—"
Before he could finish his sentence, I cut him off.
"Stop with what you are thinking. I am not like that. I'd rather hurt her than to use her just to benefit myself and to satisfy my worldly craving." Heaving a sigh, I walked away from Sion but that idiot was just so noisy and persistent as he was.
"Hay nako! Kaya virgin ka pa, e. Hindi ka pa nakakatikim. Sapat na kasi sa 'yo ang kamay lang."
"Close your damn forsaken mouth, Sion." I warned and threw a glare at him.
He laughed at my reaction and hovered up his hand as though he was surrendering, "Fine. You are that holy. Let's be guided by St. Augustus."
"Idiot!" I laughed at his stupidity and childishness. Kung hindi ko lang siguro kaibigan ito ay matagal ko na siyang nasuntok.
After our practice, I immediately went out of the Gymnasium. The searing sun welcomed me as it sent a blinding shaft that instantly assaulted my eyes. Squinting as I hovered up my hand a little to protect my eyes from the ripping shaft of the superior sun, I sauntered my way to the place where I usually spot Ivy. She was there for sure, it was their break. As my lips sported a usual grin, I took a fast pace until her image loomed at my sight. She was there, silently reading a book again. But this time, it wasn't a Psychological book, it was a novel book.
