"Trent put the phone away at the table son. It's your mother's birthday. Those girls can wait." Zaine said to his son who chuckled before sending one more message and putting the phone into his pocket.

"Sorry pop. Sorry ma." He said.

"Y'all didn't have to do this for me. The cake. The gifts." Ivy said looking around the table at everyone. Unlike Chloe she was part of the family.

Though her and Zaine used to have their differences in the past they'd gotten to a space where they could be civil for the kids. The kids never knew the full story on why Chloe and Ivy hated one another. They didn't know that Zaine had cheated on Ivy with Chloe and married her. All three of them just figured that Chloe was someone he'd gotten with after the relationship with Ivy ended. No matter how bitter Ivy had been in the past about the hurt he'd put on her she never bashed him to kids or told them how he'd cheated and had another baby on her. They were young when she'd kept them away from him during the year he was married to Chloe so they didn't remember that. However as they got older they saw how chaotic things were whenever their father tried getting all three of them together. Ivy and Chloe simply weren't having it but by keeping the children away from each other they'd only been hurting them. The three siblings loved one another and were old enough to make their own decisions now.
